Caterpillar is seeking a Search Taxonomy Product Manager to own how products are structured, organized, and managed across the search experience, ensuring customers can quickly navigate, refine, and locate the right products. This role underpins the entire search journey and plays a critical part in improving findability, usability, and overall customer experience.
You will lead the definition and evolution of the product catalog structure, including categories, attributes, and fitment, ensuring it is consistent, scalable, and aligned with how customers search and shop. You will also define the systems and controls that allow merchandising teams to make changes confidently and safely, without introducing inconsistency or complexity. You’ll work closely with Engineering and data partners to improve catalog quality, streamline operations, and enable more effective search and discovery.
This role requires the ability to design and manage product data structures that directly shape how customers filter, navigate, and find products, while ensuring merchandising actions remain consistent and scalable. You will represent the customer by shaping a catalog experience that is clear, intuitive, and reliable, making it easier for customers to find exactly what they need with minimal effort.
What you will do:
Own the taxonomy and attribute strategy, including categories, product attributes, and fitment data
Define and prioritize a taxonomy roadmap (what to standardize, add, or fix first)
Improve attribute completeness and consistency across key product categories
Ensure taxonomy enables effective filtering, faceting, and query matching
Define requirements for merchandising tools and controls (rules, synonyms, redirects)
Establish guardrails such as preview/simulation, approvals, expiry, and audit tracking
Create governance policies (who can make changes, how changes are measured, when they expire)
Partner with Engineering to deliver scalable data models, schemas, and tooling capabilities
Success in this role looks like:
Increased filter/facet usage and improved customer navigation
Higher attribute completeness across key categories
Reduction in zero results driven by structural fixes (not manual overrides)
What you bring:
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience:
3–5 years of experience in digital product management, business analysis, or data-driven product roles
Strong understanding of product catalogs, taxonomy, or structured data
Experience breaking down problems and defining clear requirements and roadmaps
Ability to work across business and technical teams to deliver practical, scalable solutions
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Analytical mindset with ability to use data to identify issues and opportunities
Languages: Advanced level of english
Consideration for top candidates:
Experience with eCommerce product catalogs, filtering, or faceted navigation
Experience working with product data models or attribute schemas
Exposure to search platforms or catalog systems

Experience in fast-paced, cross-functional environments
