As a Senior Engineer - Configurator Systems Integration in our Mossville, IL facility, you will play a critical role in shaping how some of the largest, most advanced mining equipment on the planet is concepted, architected, and integrated from new products and components to advanced technologies that enable next-generation performance across the enterprise.

This position may require 15% travel - weekly visits to Production Facilities

In this role, you will support the Large Wheel Loader, Wheel Dozer, and Compactor product lines within Caterpillar Resource Industries Operations and Products Division. Your primary focus will be on integration engineering for the 988 and 834 platforms. You will serve as a key technical leader responsible for defining system architecture, integrating complex configurations, and ensuring seamless interaction between mechanical, electrical, and digital components. This position is instrumental in bringing new product technologies to life and translating concepts into scalable, production-ready solutions while driving alignment across engineering, manufacturing, and product teams.
What You’ll Do
Researching and developing design parameters, performance characteristics, and technical specifications of new products and components.
Guiding the evolution of the technical design, technical project planning, performance analysis, and development testing.
Participating in supplier selection and capabilities assessment.
Monitoring, exploring, and testing new technologies, materials, and components to understand product or process improvement opportunities.
Constructing and fabricating prototype equipment; overseeing materials selection, process optimization and process yield, as well as reliability testing and failure analysis.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field

Systems Thinking: Analyzes interdependencies within systems to diagnose root causes, optimize performance, and implement solutions that align resources to business outcomes.
Top Candidates will also have:
Experience in heavy equipment, mining equipment, or complex manufacturing industries
Proven experience in systems integration engineering, configuration engineering, or complex product development environments
Strong understanding of system architecture, system interdependencies, and integration methodologies (Systems Thinking)
Hands-on experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and product configuration platforms
Working knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
Experience with prototyping, system testing, validation, and verification processes to ensure product quality and reliability
Summary Pay Range:
$112,710.00 - $169,060.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
