Technology, Digital and DataJob Description:
Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.
When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
Cat Digital is the digital and technology arm of Caterpillar Inc., leveraging the latest technologies to build industry leading digital solutions for our customers and dealers. With over 1.5 million connected assets worldwide, our teams use data, technology, advanced analytics, telematics and AI capabilities to help our customers build a better, more sustainable world.
Job Summary:
We're looking for a Senior Sales Cloud Product Owner who enjoys the human side of this work — spending time with sellers, understanding how they actually use the system, and turning that insight into a platform that makes their jobs easier and the business stronger.
You'll work within a team of product owners that supports 20 business units, partnering with them to understand current needs and shape where we're headed. You'll lead ongoing standardization and optimization efforts while helping bring next-generation capabilities — Agentforce, Data Cloud (Data 360), and headless AI patterns — into the seller experience in ways that drive real outcomes.
What You'll Do
Much of this role is listening. You'll work closely with sales leaders, reps, sales ops, marketing, and other partners to understand the workflow, the friction, and the "why" behind what people ask for. Part of the job is knowing when a request is exactly right and when it's a symptom of something else.
From there, you'll:
- Translate what you learn into a clear product vision and roadmap, and tell that story in a way that lands with executives and the delivery team
- Own and prioritize the Product Backlog based on business value, user impact, and platform health
- Refine epics and features into well-formed user stories with clear acceptance criteria
- Champion Sales Cloud best practices and steer toward standard solutions over one-off customizations
- Help the business identify where Agentforce agents genuinely add value across the sales motion — lead triage, meeting prep, account research, follow-up, opportunity hygiene — and where they don't
- Partner with data and architecture teams on how Data Cloud (Data 360) unifies customer signals so sellers see one trustworthy view of the account
- Bring headless AI thinking into roadmap conversations, so AI capabilities can serve sellers wherever they work — Sales Cloud, email, mobile, Slack, or custom apps
- Define success metrics before we build, then measure adoption, time saved, pipeline accuracy, cycle time, and win rates
- Hand off development-ready stories, weigh in on release content and timing, and participate in Daily Scrums as needed
- Lead Sprint Planning, Reveals, and Retrospectives, and accept or reject work based on whether it's truly done
- Support UAT, training, and rollout, because a great feature with poor adoption is still a failure
- Stay with initiatives post-launch to confirm the promised benefits show up
- You'll also help define scope and benefits, manage the roadmap, prioritize epics, monitor budget, validate IT design and development work, and ensure Sales Cloud continues to evolve as a platform sellers trust.
What You Will Have:
- Business Analysis: Strategic Roadmap and Vision; Strong ability to translate long-term company goals into a Salesforce Roadmap that balances new features with technical debt and platform upgrades
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge and application of logical framework (like Value vs. Effort ) to prioritize the backlog
- Software Problem Management: Understanding how a lead flows from a website click to a closed-won opportunity. Ability to spot process gaps and design solutions that fix the business problem, rather than just adding a new custom field.
- Software Product Business Knowledge: Thorough understanding what the platform can do natively. Knowing the difference between a Flow, a Validation Rule, and a Custom Object allows you to guide developers and prevent "over-engineering."
- Effective Communications: You must be able to explain complex technical limitations to executives in terms of business risk and ROI, ensuring everyone is aligned on what can realistically be delivered.
Considerations For Top Candidates:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, information systems, business, marketing, or a related field
- CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) from Scrum Alliance preferred
- Salesforce certifications — Administrator and Sales Cloud Consultant especially valued; Agentforce or Data Cloud credentials are a plus
- Sales Cloud depth: lead-to-opportunity, forecasting, territory and account management, activity capture, sales engagement, reporting, and integrations with marketing automation, CPQ, CLM, and data enrichment tools
- Curiosity about Agentforce, Data Cloud / Data 360, and agentic and headless AI — and a credible point of view on how they change the seller experience
- Solid product and Agile fundamentals: user stories developers can build from, a backlog you can defend, and the judgment to make hard release calls
- Proven experience as a Digital Product Owner or Product Manager
- Proven experience leading Salesforce delivery, with meaningful Sales Cloud focus
- Experienced working in Agile environments
- Experience partnering directly with sales organizations
- Comfort with Agile tooling like Azure DevOps, JIRA, or Rally
- Experience with onshore/offshore delivery models
