At Caterpillar’s Indonesia Batam, we manufacture Hydraulic Shovels products used in building the infrastructure and mining to move materials that make a better world. As Associate Engineer for HMS (Hydraulic Mining Shovel), you will create, implement, and improve engineering designs, processes, techniques, tooling, and machinery to meet customer requirements and maximize product quality.

You will work both in an office and manufacturing shop-floor environment.

Domestic relocation is available for this position.

What You Will Do:

• Engaging in factory quality issues and deviations, gathering technical information, and providing technical reviews and recommendations in a timely manner.

• Managing design engineering-related build issues/field issues, providing rework instruction as Interim Corrective Action, follow-up rework execution, and issue closing. Provide feedback to design controllers related to factory build issues/field issues, propose design review/revision as Permanent Corrective Action in a timely manner, and maintain and track engineering events closure. Support in the execution of engineering change implementation in the factory.

• Continuous collaboration with Global Engineering teams and product support teams.

• Execution of Trial Fit-up or prototype activities.

• Support other functional teams to explain the technical requirements and design intent.

• Supporting supplier collaboration teams to resolve technical issues, quality events/deviations, and track BIQ (Build in Quality) results.

• HMS (Hydraulic Mining Shovel) APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) reviews with the relevant factory teams.

What You Have (Required):

• Fluent in English and effective communicator, in written and oral form.

• Good understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.

• Proficient in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

• 3D (3 Dimension) CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) modeling capability preferably in Creo/Proe.

Degree and Experience Requirement:

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred in mechanical or electrical engineering) – Associate diploma degree can be considered with additional working experience.

• Having a minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing facilities or industries or an Engineering Associate or Diploma with a minimum of 6 years of experience in Manufacturing facilities or industries.

Top Candidates Will Also Bring (Preferable):

• Experience in assembly process and validation.

• Structural/Fabrication/Weld experience.

• Hydraulics and electrical schematics experience.

• Field experience with mobile mining equipment (either commissioning, inspection, maintenance, or rebuild).

Physical Requirements (With or Without Reasonable Accommodation):

• This job requires extensive active movement throughout the plant including climbing stairs and steps, lifting devices, and pushing and pulling equipment.
