Supply Chain Planning Analyst

Job Summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Supply Chain Planning Analyst to support sourcing, cost and price analysis, purchase order activity, and supply chain operations for a manufacturing environment in East Peoria, Illinois. In this role, you will partner with planners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to improve supply chain processes, support proposal activity with pricing and supplier selection, and maintain critical supply chain application systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a data-minded supply chain professional who enjoys solving operational problems, improving flow, and helping ensure materials and supplier activity align to business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working in association with Procurement and Product Groups to ensure sourcing is aligned with approved source strategy.
  • Partner with master planners on outsourcing needs, including establishing blanket purchase orders and vendor managed inventory (VMI) strategies.
  • Identify and lead initiatives that improve supply chain efficiency, process flow, and operational performance.
  • Support customers and proposal efforts by providing pricing information and contributing to supplier selection decisions.
  • Process requisition-related work and support supply chain, sourcing, cost, and price analysis activities tied to contracts and purchase orders.
  • Maintain and support supply chain application systems that enable planning, purchasing, and operational execution.
  • Apply analytical thinking to evaluate issues, compare alternatives, identify meaningful data patterns, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Work across internal teams and supplier contacts to support effective material flow, decision-making, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting.

Degree Requirements

  • Degree or Equivalent Experience

Required Skills

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to gather, interpret, and analyze data to identify trends, solve problems, and support decision-making.
  • Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP): Foundational knowledge of materials planning, bills of materials, and capacity considerations.
  • Supply Chain Management: Working understanding of planning, sourcing, inventory management, and overall supply chain processes.
  • Logistics Knowledge: Basic understanding of inbound and outbound material flow and logistics operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Decision-Making and Critical Thinking: Ability to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Process Improvement: Experience supporting initiatives to improve workflows, eliminate inefficiencies, and enhance operational performance.
  • Project Coordination: Basic knowledge of project management principles, including tracking tasks, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external suppliers.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience managing supplier schedules, purchase orders, manufacturing build plans, or inventory targets in a production-driven environment.
  • APICS / CPIM certification or comparable supply chain certification.
  • Strong Excel, reporting, dashboarding, or Power BI capability to translate operational data into business insight.
  • Familiarity with supply chain application systems, data analysis, proposal support, and customer-facing coordination.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, strong initiative, and comfort working across functions in a fast-paced manufacturing or logistics environment.

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
