Job Summary
This role provides critical supply chain planning systems support across SAP (SPP) planning modules, including Demand Forecasting & Inventory Planning, DRP, and Deployment. The position is responsible for maintaining system stability, enabling scalable system‑based solutions, and supporting increased planning complexity driven by Deployment needs, contract kitting, and ongoing system evolution. The role serves as a key integration point between planning functions, ensuring changes are aligned end‑to‑end and executed through standard, supportable system logic.
Required Qualifications – Caterpillar IM / SAP SPP
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on SAP SPP experience supporting Caterpillar‑scale planning environments, with deep functional expertise in:
- DFIP (Demand Forecasting & Inventory Planning)
- DRP (Distribution Requirements Planning)
- Deployment
- Deep functional knowledge of SAP (SPP) DFIP, DRP, and Deployment to support migration to the eSPP platform.
- Demonstrated experience supporting SAP SPP implementations, including migration from legacy planning solutions and stabilization of post‑go‑live operations
- Strong functional knowledge of SAP SPP Kitting, including:
- Kit‑on‑Demand (KoD) planning and execution
- Kit‑to‑Stock (KtS) planning and execution
- Proven ability to support and optimize end‑to‑end IM planning flows, from forecast consumption through replenishment and deployment execution
- Advanced proficiency in SAS, including:
- Large‑scale data extraction from SAP/SPP and enterprise data sources
- Development of analytical models, operational metrics, and exception reporting
- Experience partnering with Sourcing & Releasing, Demand Planning, Deployment, and Distribution Systems teams to support business outcomes
- Ability to translate business requirements into SPP functional design, configuration recommendations, and clear technical documentation
- Experience supporting production IM systems, including issue triage, root‑cause analysis, and defect resolution in coordination with IT and business partners
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex SPP concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Preferred / Additional Caterpillar‑Relevant Skills
- Familiarity with aftermarket / parts supply chain planning, including service‑level driven inventory strategies
- Experience with inventory segmentation, redeployment logic, and backorder avoidance strategies
- Exposure to global, multi‑node distribution networks and complex deployment flows
- Experience documenting IM process flows, functional specifications, and training materials for enterprise audiences
- Strong continuous‑improvement mindset with demonstrated ability to deliver measurable inventory, service, or cost benefits
- Ability to operate effectively in cross‑functional, global, matrixed environments
