Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Senior Tax Analyst to join US Reporting & Analysis -Global Finance Services Division.
As a Senior Tax Analyst in the US Tax Reporting and Analysis group, you will be responsible for aspects of the U.S Consolidated Federal Income Tax return for Caterpillar Inc. and its subsidiaries. This experienced tax professional will be a valued member on a team that performs compliance and provision activities, supports special projects, and provides support for the US IRS and state income tax audits.
The preference for this role is to be based out of Bangalore-Shared Services, Whitefield-KA
What you will do
As a Senior Tax Analyst in the US Tax Reporting and Analysis group, you will be responsible for aspects of the U.S Consolidated Federal Income Tax return for Caterpillar Inc. and its subsidiaries. This experienced tax professional will be a valued member on a team that performs compliance and provision activities, supports special projects, and provides support for the US IRS and state income tax audits.
You will have the opportunity to expand your US direct income tax experience in multiple tax technical areas as well as having great opportunities for career progression. The role will challenge you to combine technical and business knowledge to complete a high-quality work product, adapt to a rapidly changing legislative environment by documenting compliance positions and demonstrate critical thinking skills through the implementation of controls and analysis.
Your job duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Tax Compliance Management & Review: Prepares US international tax returns and computations. Liaises with technical specialists to ensure appropriate preparation and review on technical or higher risk areas.
- Tax Projects: Applies tax research results to optimize enterprise tax effects. Participates on process improvement projects. Participates on teams within or outside of the US Reporting and Analysis group on Global Tax initiatives.
- IRS & State Audit Support: Provides analysis for US tax audits and develops responses to inquiries from taxing authorities.
- What you will have
- Bachelor's level degree related to Accounting or an approved certification (CPA/CMA)
- 4-6 years of progressively responsible tax or accounting experience at Big 4 public accounting firm and/or large multinational manufacturing organization.
- This position requires candidate to work a 5-day -a -week schedule in the office.
Desired Qualifications
- Strong tax compliance experience in U.S. federal and/or international income tax compliance
- Experience with tax processes/systems/software (CorpTax, SAP BPC, Excel)
- Demonstrate high levels of initiative, good judgment, and superior communication skills
- Collaborative and team-oriented personality with the ability to build and foster relationships throughout the organization
- Understanding of accounting and business processes, and enterprise operations
- Strong conceptual understanding of international taxation, along with hands-on experience in preparing and reviewing Forms 5471 and Form 8858.

Tax Operations: Knowledge of tax practices and regulations; ability to prepare and file federal, state and local tax returns.

• Documents practices, standards and procedures for maintaining and reporting tax information.
• Interprets and explains key tax-related documents and reports.
• Utilizes basic tools to identify and gather the information necessary for preparing a tax return.
• Participates in maintaining tax-related records for a specific area of the business.
• Resolves common tax-related errors and problems.
Tax Regulations: Knowledge of federal, state and local tax procedures and regulations; ability to adhere to tax regulations when filing forms as they pertain to a particular business or industry.

• Prepares basic tax forms for filing.
• Assists in analyzing tax liability in at least one area of the business.
• Follows current general tax regulations as they pertain to own industry.

Research Analysis: Knowledge of the concepts, methodologies and methods of research analysis; ability to locate, interpret and evaluate research findings compiled and documented by others.
