Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.
As a Distribution Research Consultant, you will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and optimization of all logistics processes to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Additional Information:
- This role is located in Morton IL and does not offer relocation.
- This role is 1st shift, Monday – Friday.
- This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules
- This role requires up to 5% domestic travel
What You Will Do:
- Apply process improvement tools and methodologies to support the implementation of efficient and competitive logistics solutions.
- Collaborate with operations and cross-functional teams to define critical parameters and develop plans for process control and continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain logistics process engineering standards, tools, and best practices, ensuring consistent implementation across current and new operations.
- Evaluate logistics processes and workflows, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to resolve process-related issues.
- Provide business support for order sourcing and order processing systems, serving as a key resource for customer services and internal stakeholders.
- Investigate and resolve complex order and system-related issues, identifying root causes and delivering effective solutions.
- Analyze system-generated estimated ship dates, explain underlying drivers, and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy and reliability.
- Partner with IT and business stakeholders to design and implement order sourcing and management solutions that meet business requirements while minimizing complexity.
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives focused on improving order sourcing and management processes.
- Support system transformation efforts, including the transition from legacy systems to new platforms, ensuring continuity and operational efficiency.
- Define scalable, streamlined solutions that improve process flow, reduce disruptions, and support ongoing business operations.
What You Have (Basic Requirements):
- Cross-Team Integration: Understanding of the importance of inter-team collaboration in breaking down silos and achieving business results; ability to lead employees from various functions to communicate, coordinate work across divisions, and collaborate in solving problems as one team.
- Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.
- Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.
- Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
- Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
- Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.
What Will Set You Apart (Top Candidates Will Have):
- Experience supporting SAP systems and system enhancements, particularly in order management or sourcing environments
- Familiarity with SAP solutions such as SPP, GATP, SAP S/4HANA aATP, or APO Order Management
- Experience contributing to system implementations or large-scale system transformation initiatives
- Ability to partner with IT teams to translate business requirements into effective system solutions
- Background in IT-adjacent roles bridging business and technical stakeholders

Summary Pay Range:
$147,760.00 - $221,640.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
