Job Summary:

We are looking for an Engineering Compliance Specialist to join our Global Solutions Engineering (GSE) Group. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within the Caterpillar Electric Power engineering team.

The Global Solutions Engineering Group is responsible for the design and development of large gas and diesel electric power systems, enclosures and plant systems. This includes new product development, technical support for operations, processing of engineering changes, investigation & resolution of product quality issues.

Reporting into the Global Process Excellence Manager, you will be responsible for all Global Solutions Engineering Product and Process compliance worldwide to ensure products meet regulatory requirements while providing superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.

What you will do:

  • Ensure that all global solutions engineering products and processes comply with local and industry codes and standards worldwide such as UL2200 and IEC equivalent. Additionally, ensure that these products and processes meet Enterprise standards and manage any exceptions for the global solutions engineering team.

  • Remain current on product regulatory requirements and related technology standards and understand their application to Caterpillar products. Communicate changes in regulatory requirements to the global solutions engineering and support teams for global solutions products and processes.

  • Follow and utilize established processes and tools to collect, assess, and manage information in support of product certification and compliance.

  • Engage in engineering design reviews, and collaborate with process partners to ensure the development, validation and production of product that meets applicable product regulatory requirements.

  • Champion compliance for all products under GSE design control through collaboration with GSE leaders to ensure design processes incorporate compliance requirements.

  • Lead process improvement projects for global solutions engineering to ensure all products and processes are at the highest standard and quality.

What you have:

Product Engineering - Level Working Knowledge:

  • Design and development for electrical power products and systems or strong knowledge of product compliance.

  • Summarizes discrepancies and failures in all standard processes; reports them to management.

  • Troubleshoots technical problems during the engineering stage and discusses these problems with colleagues.

  • Researches the structure of target products using systems and tools such as Teamcenter, SAP and TIC to define and source accurate material and components for the project.

Risk Management - Level Basic Understanding:

  • Identifies major categories of business risks.

  • Utilizes regulatory compliance tools to manage product regulatory compliance risks.

Data Gathering & Analysis - Level Working Knowledge:

  • Follows proper data gathering and analysis processes.

  • Reports problems that arise in the data collection process.

  • Documents data from various sources and in various formats.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail - Level Extensive Experience:

  • Evaluates and makes contributions to best practices.

  • Implements a variety of cross-checking approaches and mechanisms.

  • Demonstrates expertise in quality assurance tools, techniques, and standards such as Six Sigma and Lean principles.

Collaborating - Level Working Knowledge:

  • Ability to work with a variety of internal and external partners in a constructive and collaborative manner.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking - Level Working Knowledge:

  • Ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Education:

  • An accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science degree or closely related technical qualification or progressive job-related experience.

Additional information:

  • Up to 30% domestic and international travel can be expected to support global projects and initiatives.

  • Domestic relocation is not offered for this position.

  • This position will be based in Lafayette, IN or Griffin, GA.

  • This position is currently a hybrid in-office work model, requiring a 3-day weekly office presence onsite at our (location) office and remote work for the remaining days. However, work arrangements may be adjusted at any time based on business needs.

Summary Pay Range:

$126,000.00 - $189,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
