We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

Role Summary

Help employees access trusted technical information as part of the Technical Information Center (TIC). The TIC acquires, organizes, preserves, and publishes knowledge that supports engineering, research, innovation, compliance, and informed decisions across the enterprise.

As an Associate Technical Information Specialist, you’ll support document delivery, acquisitions, ready reference, cataloging, and internal repository publishing with accurate, reliable service. This entry-level role offers increasing responsibility as you build experience within the information professional career series. Limited travel is required.

What You Will Do (Job Duties)

1. Document Delivery & Interlibrary Loan

Coordinate timely delivery and interlibrary loans for articles, standards, reports, and conference materials outside library collections. Maintain partner library and supplier relationships, and track activity and metrics to improve fulfillment.

2. Acquisitions

Acquire print and electronic resources for user and program needs. Coordinate purchases and renewals with vendors, finance, and internal teams; track spending, support budgets, and assist library and procurement partners with pricing and license negotiations.

3. Ready Reference Services

Answer routine reference questions from engineers, researchers, and other users; identify relevant sources, documents, and services; and guide users on library resources.

4. Document Publishing

Publish technical documents following established workflows and standards, apply required metadata, templates, and document properties, and assist authors with publishing questions and submission tracking.

What You Will Have (Core Skills)

Degree Requirement: A four-year or advanced degree, preferably in library and information science or a related field, and prior library work experience.

Effective Communications:
Communicate clearly through writing, presentations, active listening, and constructive feedback. Adapt language to your audience and recognize nonverbal cues.

Accuracy & Attention to Detail:
Process detailed information accurately while balancing speed and quality. Apply cross-checks and quality assurance standards, improve best practices, and encourage others to meet accuracy goals.

Process Improvement:
Map workflows, identify performance barriers, and apply process controls. Prioritize high-impact improvements and raise broader issues for organizational action.

Library Administration:
Support daily library operations, including administrative and service support, catalog updates, new materials, circulation, overdue items, renewals, and distribution lists.

Library and Resource Center Management:
Acquire, maintain, and share physical and electronic information. Maintain source and vendor records, support information delivery, review contractual, legal, and ethical access obligations, and document the rationale for major initiatives.

Library Help Desk:
Help users find information and use research tools. Resolve routine requests, conduct searches, provide in-person and virtual support, and document external-source and special-request costs.
