The Role:

  • Acts as the central quality orchestrator, aligning development, DevOps, QA, business, and release teams to embed functional, automated, and cybersecurity check testing into CI/CD pipelines and ensure releases are delivered with confidence. Collaborates closely with Physical Availability, Product Support, Quality, and IT Support teams.

What Will Do:

  • Own and govern end-to-end test strategy across applications and integrations in Agile/DevOps delivery.
  • Ensure full test coverage including functional, integration, regression, UAT, and release validation.
  • Embed testing into CI/CD pipelines by partnering with development, platform, and DevOps teams.
  • Enable and scale test automation, promoting shift-left and automation-first practices.
  • Plan and manage test cycles, test plans, and execution aligned to sprint and release cadence.
  • Coordinate defect triage and resolution to support release readiness and quality gates.
  • Act as the central coordination point across IT teams, business stakeholders, and UAT participants.
  • Provide transparent quality metrics and test status through


Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6–10 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or test coordination roles, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience working in Agile and DevOps environments supporting CI/CD pipelines.


Core Competencies & Skills Required
Test Strategy & Coordination (Extensive Experience)

  • Ability to define, implement, and govern end-to-end test strategies across multiple applications, integrations, and customer-facing systems.
  • Coordinates testing activities across IT delivery teams, business stakeholders, and customer groups to ensure alignment and test readiness.
  • Ensures appropriate coverage for functional, integration, system, regression, user acceptance (UAT), and release validation testing.
  • Manages test plans, test cycles, entry/exit criteria, and defect triage to support successful releases.

DevOps & Automation Enablement (Working to Extensive Knowledge)

  • Experience leveraging DevOps tools and practices (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, automated test execution, environments provisioning).
  • Partners with development and platform teams to integrate testing into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) workflows.
  • Guides adoption of test automation frameworks and promotes shift-left and shift-right testing practices.
  • Ensures test results, quality metrics, and blockers are visible within DevOps dashboards and reporting tools.

Business Acumen (Working Knowledge)

  • Understands how testing quality impacts customer experience, operational stability, and business outcomes.
  • Aligns testing priorities with business-critical flows, customer commitments, and release objectives.
  • Communicates testing risks and quality outcomes in business-relevant terms for leadership and stakeholders.

Planning & Execution (Extensive Experience)

  • Develops and maintains test schedules and release readiness plans aligned to program and sprint timelines.
  • Identifies dependencies across systems, teams, and external partners that may impact testing outcomes.
  • Plans test resource allocation across parallel initiatives and competing priorities.

Process Management & Quality Governance (Working Knowledge)

  • Defines and evolves standard testing processes, templates, and best practices across teams.
  • Identifies test-process bottlenecks, environment constraints, and data issues; drives continuous improvement.
  • • Ensures compliance with organizational quality standards and audit requirements.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management (Working Knowledge)

  • Acts as a central coordination point between developers, product owners, infrastructure teams, and customer representatives.
  • Facilitates testing forums such as test readiness reviews, defect triage meetings, and release go/no-go discussions.
  • Promotes a culture of shared ownership for quality across IT and business teams.

Communication & Reporting (Working Knowledge)

  • Delivers clear, concise communication on test status, defects, risks, and quality trends.
  • Produces executive-ready test summaries, dashboards, and release readiness reports.
  • Effectively communicates with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Problem Solving & Risk Management (Extensive Experience)

  • Proactively identifies testing risks and quality gaps early in the delivery lifecycle.
  • Leads root-cause analysis for test failures and production defects; ensures lessons learned are captured and applied.
  • Develops mitigation and contingency plans to protect release timelines and customer experience.

Tools & Technology (Working Knowledge)

  • Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with test automation tools, API testing tools, and CI/CD platforms.
  • Experience working with complex integration landscapes including data, APIs, and customer-facing systems.

Additional Info:

  • This position can be based in Mossville, IL

  • Domestic relocation assistance is not available for this role.

  • International and Domestic travel up to 5%

  • This role requires onsite presence 5 days per week.

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
