About IDES:

Caterpillar’s Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

Job Summary:
Solve challenging engineering problems involving electrified products, systems, and components using advanced engineering analysis, technical expertise, and cross-functional execution. Support battery electric machine development, high-voltage integration, battery technologies, and product development activities for the Tucson team.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with customers, product groups, and leadership to define and execute electrification projects that meet business and customer objectives

  • Lead development and integration activities for battery, charging, high-voltage, and electric drive systems across machine platforms

  • Accountable for delivering timely, high-quality engineering solutions, technical recommendations, and project execution support for new product introduction and validation activities

  • Partner with design, manufacturing, supply chain, software, controls, and test teams to successfully develop and deploy electrified products

  • Support technical issue resolution, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives across development and production programs

  • Stay current on emerging electrification technologies and apply best practices to improve product performance, reliability, and customer value


What You Will Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • Analytical Thinking: Extensive experience and knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

  • Effective Communications: Working knowledge and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Problem Solving: Extensive experience and knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Technical Excellence: Working knowledge of electrification technologies and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges involving battery electric machines, energy storage systems, high-voltage integration, power electronics, charging systems, and vehicle electrification.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Ability to influence technical direction, align stakeholders, and drive execution across multiple engineering, product, test, and manufacturing teams.

  • This position is located in Tucson, AZ and requires 5-day on-site availability

  • Domestic relocation is available

  • This role travels up to 25% of the time, both domestic and international

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
