As a Multi-Line Technician you will operate as part of the production team responsible for the assembly of parts or components to produce Building Construction Product (BCP) machines, according to specified work orders. Working on several stations covering planned/unplanned absences. You will utilise lean manufacturing tools and techniques while operating to defined "tact times" and production sequences.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to perform safe and defect free assembly of parts and components, using various hand/power tools and lifting equipment provided in the work area

  • Work on several stations to support planned and unplanned absences

  • Train/coach Assembly Technician’s/Apprentices to standard work instructions

  • Operate BCP built machines where required

  • Follow and utilise Caterpillar Production System principles of continuous improvement reporting, waste elimination and standard work

  • Participate in product / process improvement dialogues as required

  • Cover the Team Leader's role in their absence

  • Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM)

  • Adhere to the company's Health and Safety policy and safe working practices

  • Adhere to Caterpillar's Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork, Sustainability

  • Undertake training and further learning as required

Candidates must have the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Demonstrable high level of assembly or mechanical aptitude and accuracy

  • Initiative and strong communication, interpersonal & organisation skills

  • The ability to use hand/power tools and lifting equipment

  • The ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions/procedures

  • Attention to detail, able to work with own initiative and self-motivated

  • You will possess effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organization

  • Willing to undertake required training/learning

  • Must be willing to work a multi-shift pattern

Candidates may have the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Thorough working knowledge of the assembly duties and build experience

  • Experience shows ability to drive RCCA

  • Have a fully flexible approach to the job role & responsibilities (willing to work overtime)

Job Title: Multi-Line Assembler

Contract: Permanent

Location: Desford, Leicestershire

Salary: £28,900 starting salary rising to £30,450 once role competencies are met

Benefits: 27 days annual leave + bank holidays – option to buy or sell, Production Bonus, Flexible Buy In Benefits such as Private Medical, Health Care, Dental & Vision scheme and more, Share Scheme (50% Company Matched), Contributory Pension Scheme (Contribution double by Company up to 10%)

Hours: 37.5

The Building Construction Products (BCP) division team is comprised of more than 9,000 employees—from assemblers and accountants to marketing professionals and engineers—we work in factories, warehouses, and offices all over the world.

We are responsible for the design, manufacturing, marketing and support of Caterpillar’s line of small, versatile construction machines and attachments for the commercial construction, residential construction, specialty trades, landscaping and agriculture industries. Products include small wheel loaders, compact wheel loaders, backhoe loaders, compact track loaders, mini hydraulic excavators, skid steer loaders, telehandlers and small track-type tractors.
