Role Definition:

The Program Management Manager will provide direct leadership to the Caterpillar Switchgear custom switchgear project management team responsible for successful execution of custom switchgear projects and/or accounts from Order Entry through Project Closeout. Program manager will have a thorough knowledge of the principles relating to the design, and operation of paralleling switchgear systems and custom switchgear solutions.  The ability to apply these principles to the direction of other disciplines and to direct people of lesser experience in the performance of paralleling switchgear systems relative to the support of custom switchgear projects. The individual in this position must be generally familiar with financial, commercial, contractual, and technical aspects of the custom switchgear project, including dealer structure and processes. This position represents the project management organization and is the prime commercial, technical, and contractual authority responsible for the execution of complex projects. Interfaces with internal management of the Company as well as customers. Internal contacts and peers may be department and business managers, project managers, production managers, product support team, and engineering. External contacts are project managers and management of Caterpillar Dealers, major clients, and sub-suppliers.

Responsibilities:  

  • Project Management team. Also, directs day to day work assignments while coaching, mentoring and setting priorities.           

  • Overseeing the hiring, performance, development and management of the custom switchgear

  • Designing, establishing and monitoring the organization's project management goals.

  • Lead a team of Project Managers and analysts who plan, schedule, manage, supervise, and oversee the execution of broad and complex custom switchgear projects.

  • Management / escalation of financial, commercial, contractual, and technical aspects of the custom switchgear projects as well as oversight for the planning, design, procurement, assembly, test, shipment, and commissioning of custom switchgear projects

  • Manage commercial aspects and support technical direction to various other project teams, including engineering, purchasing, production and field service teams along with performance management of the project management team.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques.

  • Typically develops solution to commercial problems and provides support in solving technical problems

  • Applies advanced knowledge and experience rather than fixed "textbook" methods.

  • Assists in assessing risks, benefits and consideration of alternatives. Must be able to achieve coordination of complex projects by working with design, contract, commercial and production planning specialists

  • Domestic travel of 5-10% is required.

  • This position is currently a hybrid in-office work model, requiring a 3-day weekly office presence onsite at our (location) office and remote work for the remaining days. However, work arrangements may be adjusted at any time based on business needs

Summary Pay Range:

$126,000.00 - $189,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
