The Large Power Systems Division located in Lafayette, IN has an opening for a Supply Chain Performance Engineer . This role coaches/leads project teams involving material suppliers and business division Supply Chain personnel to increase supplier capability. Responsible to ensure suppliers meet supplier delivery metrics and lead rough cut capacity analysis.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Addresses day-to-day supplier constraints to improve supplier performance and their ability to rapidly respond to Caterpillar requirements.
  • Leads project teams comprised of multi-functional resources, including business division supply chain planning, site global purchasing, operations, receiving, Global Transportation, Demand and Orders, Material Requirements Planning and Logistics to improve supplier performance.
  • Works collaboratively with suppliers and multiple business division functions to address and resolve supplier issues using root cause and corrective action (RCCA).
  • Leads team to help suppliers to build lean supply chain capability in the areas of material replenishment to business divisions, improved Sales and Operations Planning, high-velocity throughput, optimized logistics and capacity planning.
  • Leads the Supply Chain Planning Process with suppliers, providing leadership to project teams.
  • Leads team projects to implement improved supplier collaboration with Caterpillar and third-party service providers using common collaboration technologies.
  • Responsible for yearly Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) for assigned suppliers

Basic Qualifications:

  • College or university degree related to Supply Chain, Engineering or Business, with 4 or more years of supply chain experience OR Minimum of five to eight years of progressive responsibility in an Order to Delivery role with supply chain job experience.
  • Facilitation skills demonstrated through your ability to manage projects, lead discussions and guide teams though execution of high impact initiatives.
  • Experience in the development and deployment of Supply Chain processes
  • A background in Supply Chain, Manufacturing / Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Inventory Management, Material Requirements Planning, Demand Management and/or Logistics is highly desired.

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Masters degree related to Supply Chain, Engineering or Business.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of lean concepts and tools.
  • Advanced understanding of supply chain planning processes and analytical tools.
  • Advanced understanding of common supply chain systems, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of 6Sigma Project Management principles.
  • Extremely strong collaborative, interpersonal and negotiation skills in order to drive common supply chain processes across multiple departments within a facility.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to creatively solve very complex problems.
  • Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures and solid product knowledge
  • Experience with the CPS RIW and Value Stream Transformation process
  • APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification desired
