The EHS Manager provides site leadership, mentoring and direction to hourly, salaried and management personnel engaged in environmental, health and safety activities. This role owns deployment of the EHS strategy at PPG, strengthens regulatory and company compliance, and partners with leaders and employees to prevent serious injuries, learn from work as performed and create durable safeguards. The successful candidate will be a visible, credible leader who connects strategy to daily operations and drives timely follow-through on risks, incidents, audits and improvement actions.

What You Will Do:

• Lead the PPG EHS strategy and annual operating plan, aligning site priorities with facility, division and enterprise objectives.
• Coordinate across PD&S development sites; Paving Validation, Tech Center, India Validation, & QPG on EHS related priorities and deliverables.
• Identify common and complex safety, health and environmental hazards and establish practical standards and safeguards appropriate to local operations.
• Advance serious-injury prevention by strengthening recognition of high-energy exposures, critical controls, bowties and direct engineering or elimination controls.
• Embed the Safety Driven outcomes of Care, Learn and Prevent through leader coaching, employee engagement, Human and Organizational Performance principles and Learning Teams.
• Build leadership capability and field visibility by coaching leaders to seek, share, listen and champion; learn from employees closest to the work; and demonstrate visible follow-through.
• Ensure required EHS training, onboarding and recurring learning are completed and understood for employees, agency personnel, contractors and visitors.
• Audit EHS programs and field execution for conformance with company standards, government regulations, permits and local requirements; lead closure of identified gaps.
• Own the site compliance calendar, regulatory reporting, permit obligations, records and readiness for internal, corporate and external assessments.
• Lead incident and near-miss response, including appropriate escalation, learning-focused investigation, causal analysis, corrective actions, replication and verification of effective closure.
• Monitor performance reports, exposure indicators and action aging; identify trends, alert leadership to emerging risk and recommend improvement priorities.
• Lead environmental stewardship, including air, water, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention and sustainability-related activities applicable to the site.
• Integrate EHS requirements into management of change, capital projects, new equipment, test processes, contractor work and facility modifications.
• Partner across engineering, validation, facilities, operations, security, human resources and business partners to solve complex issues and standardize effective practices.
• Develop, maintain and continuously improve site EHS programs, procedures, emergency preparedness and communication systems.
• Lead and develop site EHS professionals and other assigned resources, establishing clear priorities, accountability and capability growth.

What You Have :

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading EHS programs in an industrial, manufacturing, engineering, testing or similarly complex operating environment.

EHS Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge:

• Extensive knowledge of EHS policy compliance and applicable federal, state and local requirements.

Risk Assessment & Program Management:

• Experience assessing operational risk, establishing controls, auditing programs and leading corrective actions.

Leadership & Influence:

• Proven ability to influence across hourly, salaried and management levels and to lead through change.

Communication & Problem Solving:

• Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

What Will Set You Apart :

• Experience with high-energy hazard management, serious-injury prevention, HOP, Learning Teams, bowtie analysis or critical-control verification.
• Experience managing environmental permits, wastewater or stormwater programs, hazardous materials, waste and regulatory reporting.
• Experience leading EHS professionals, cross-functional teams, contractors or large-site programs.
• Recognized professional certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM or PE.
• Experience integrating EHS into capital projects, management of change, equipment commissioning, test operations or product development.
• Demonstrated ability to use data, leading indicators and field observations to prioritize improvements and communicate clearly with senior leaders.
• Knowledge of sustainability strategy and the ability to support accurate site data, resource conservation and waste-minimization efforts.
