Job Summary:

We are seeking a Product Owner to help shape the next generation of AI-enhanced digital experiences. In this role, you will partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities where intelligent, customer-facing capabilities can improve product discovery, decision-making, engagement, and self-service experiences.

You will lead product definition, prioritization, and delivery efforts while helping establish best practices for responsible, scalable, and measurable AI-powered solutions.

What You Will Do:

The Product Owner works closely with the Product Manager to prioritize and sequence work which ensures development efforts solve the right customer problems while also achieving business results. The Product Owner serves as the day-to-day contact for the application engineering team, providing clarity to tasks and refining the backlog. They help coordinate efforts with engineering partners to streamline work and manage dependencies across our platforms.

The Product Owner co-owns the product roadmap with the Product Manager and defines measurable business outcomes.

  • Define, prioritize, and maintain the product roadmap and backlog for AI-powered customer experience initiatives for Cat.com
  • Partner with product management, UX, engineering, content, analytics, and business stakeholders to identify and deliver solutions that improve customer engagement, discovery, and decision-making
  • Gather, refine, and document business requirements, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and success metrics for emerging digital experiences
  • Help shape the future of intelligent customer-facing capabilities, including conversational experiences, personalization, recommendations, and guided digital interactions
  • Collaborate with AI, data science, and engineering teams to evaluate solution options, understand technical tradeoffs, and deliver scalable product experiences
  • Work closely with UX and research teams to identify customer needs, validate concepts, and optimize user journeys through testing and feedback.
  • Define and measure key performance indicators to assess customer adoption, engagement, and business impact
  • Lead experimentation efforts, including pilot programs, usability testing, A/B testing, and iterative product improvements
  • Ensure AI-powered experiences align with business objectives, customer expectations, and enterprise standards for privacy, accessibility, security, and responsible AI
  • Facilitate stakeholder alignment, communicate priorities and progress, and drive execution across multiple teams and disciplines
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer experience innovations to identify opportunities for future product enhancements.

What You Will Have:

Business Analysis: Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Software Change Request Management: Knowledge of software change request management; ability to manage software product change requests from customers, prospective customers, vendors, and internal staff.
Software Problem Management: Knowledge of strategies, practices and tools for resolving software problems; ability to manage software problems in installed software products.
Software Product Business Knowledge: Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.

Considerations For Top Candidates:

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner or similar role delivering customer-facing digital products
  • Experience defining product requirements, writing features and user stories, and managing product backlogs in Agile delivery environments
  • Strong ability to translate business objectives and customer needs into actionable requirements for UX, engineering, and data teams
  • Experience working on customer-facing digital experiences, e-commerce platforms, online retail experiences, or product discovery solutions
  • Experience working with modern AI capabilities, including large language models (LLMs), conversational experiences, intelligent recommendations, and generative AI applications
  • Understanding of AI product concepts such as prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), grounding, evaluation, and responsible AI practices
  • Experience collaborating with UX, design, engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to leverage data and customer insights to drive product decisions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, evolving and matrixed environment

Ideal Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Experience delivering AI-powered customer experiences, conversational interfaces, recommendation systems, personalization, or decision-support solutions
  • Experience identifying and leveraging large structured and unstructured datasets for AI-powered experiences and assistants
  • Experience working with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, or similar AI platforms in a business environment
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps or similar Agile planning and work management tools
  • Experience working with distributed, onshore/offshore product and engineering teams
  • Experience working within a dealer, distributor, franchise, or indirect sales business model
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar products, digital channels, dealer network operations, or construction and heavy equipment industries

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $183,140.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
