What to Expect

As a Logistics Specialist, you will serve as the central point of contact for internal parts escalation management for material flow and parts availability issues across Caterpillar Paving Products. You will coordinate cross-functional efforts to identify, investigate, and resolve material shortages, inventory discrepancies, and delivery interruptions that impact operational performance, ensuring issues are prioritized, communicated effectively, and resolved in a timely manner.

In this role, you will facilitate structured root cause investigations, partner with production, warehouse, procurement, and logistics teams to implement corrective actions, and drive sustainable process improvements. You will also support the development, maintenance, and implementation of standard work to improve consistency, quality, and operational effectiveness.

Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, great communication across teams and departments, ERP systems experience (SAP / Mach 1 for example), the ability to influence, and a passion for improvement projects.

Pay Rate and Schedule:

The position includes a total extension wage of $28.35 /hour plus a comprehensive Day-One Benefit program. Paid weekly. Paid time-off: Vacation/PTO, holiday, and Winter Holiday*. 401k matching AND additional 2-5% annual company contribution* to 401k’s.

Openings available on 1st Shift: Monday – Friday, 06:00 a.m. - 02:00 p.m. Overtime opportunities may be available on a voluntary basis based on business needs and with leader prior authorization. All initial communication and status updates will be via email.

Your Role Day-to-Day

  • Coordinate and manage internal parts escalation activities affecting production and operational goals.

  • Lead cross-functional root cause investigations for material shortages, inventory inaccuracies, and process failures.

  • Drive corrective and preventive actions to improve parts availability and inventory accuracy.

  • Track, analyze, and communicate escalation trends, recurring issues, and performance metrics.

  • Develop, document, and maintain logistics coordinator standard work.

  • Facilitate continuous improvement activities focused on safety, quality, velocity, and cost.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for material flow and escalation management processes.

  • Partner with production, planning, procurement, engineering, and warehouse teams to identify and implement sustainable solutions.

  • Maintain and analyze data using SAP, Microsoft Office, and other business systems.

  • Identify process gaps, recommend improvements, and support implementation efforts.

  • Assist in training and onboarding team members on logistics processes, systems, and standard work expectations.

  • Support special projects and operational initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications for Consideration (Minimum)

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics, material planning, inventory control, or warehousing

  • Experience utilizing ERP systems such as SAP or Mach1.

  • Previous experience identifying and resolving inventory, material flow, or supply chain issues.

  • Intermediate computer skills required, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Additional:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Top Candidates Will Have

  • Experience facilitating root cause analysis methodologies and corrective action processes.

  • Experience developing and maintaining standard work documentation.

  • Knowledge of material planning, production support, and inventory management processes.

  • Experience leading cross-functional improvement initiatives.

  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.

  • Associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent experience.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Additional Information

Shift: First Shift

Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Work Location: Brooklyn Park, MN

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 35 lbs frequently.

  • Sit, stand, and walk throughout an 8-hour shift.

  • Work at multiple heights and in varying production environments.

  • Operate material handling equipment as required.

  • Use fine motor skills and perform repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling, and rotating motions.

  • Work in environments with changing temperatures and production-related noise levels.

Work Environment

  • Support operations in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.

  • Communicate and collaborate with multiple functions throughout the facility.

  • Utilize SAP, Microsoft Office products, and other business systems regularly.

  • Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities that support operational performance.

Summary Pay Range:

$28.35 - $36.23

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
