Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

The Strategic Procurement & Planning Division (SPPD) is hiring a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to build the analytical tools, reporting systems, and data‑driven insights that enable Machine Sales & Operations Planning across Caterpillar and its global dealer network. This role will play a critical part in advancing fact‑based decision‑making across the enterprise.

In this position, you will design and refine analytical models, build scalable and intuitive reporting solutions, and transform complex data into actionable insights that enhance our end‑to‑end planning processes. You will collaborate closely with business process owners, product groups, dealers, and cross‑functional teams to ensure our data products are accurate, trusted, and aligned with enterprise priorities.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop reports and deliver product support for two digital platforms serving Caterpillar and its global dealer network.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand informational needs, gather requirements, and translate them into analytical solutions that support strategic and operational decision‑making.

  • Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, generate insights, and support Machine Sales & Operations Planning activities.

  • Develop scalable data pipelines and automated reporting solutions to efficiently collect, clean, transform, and prepare high‑volume data for analysis.

  • Apply data quality best practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of datasets and analytical outputs.

  • Maintain clear documentation and reproducible code to minimize technical debt and support long‑term sustainability of analytical products.

  • Build end‑to‑end automated reporting and analytics workflows that improve efficiency and reduce manual effort across the organization.

  • Ensure high‑quality deliverables by developing test cases, validating results, and confirming robustness across data scenarios.

  • Communicate analytical findings, insights, and recommendations clearly and effectively to senior leaders and key stakeholders, tailoring messages to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

What You Will Have:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related field.

  • Proficiency with industry‑standard data engineering, analytics, and visualization tools—including Snowflake, SQL, Power BI, and Power Automate is required.

Top candidates will also have:

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and identify actionable insights

  • Ability to build clear, intuitive dashboards and visualizations that effectively communicate insights

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into business‑focused recommendations

  • Solid understanding of data quality principles, data governance, and best practices for maintaining reliable datasets

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver high‑quality results in a fast‑paced environment

  • Curiosity, a continuous‑learning mindset, and a passion for solving complex business problems through data
