About BCP

The Building Construction Products (BCP) division team is comprised of more than 9,000 employees—from assemblers and accountants to marketing professionals and engineers—we work in factories, warehouses, and offices all over the world.

We are responsible for the design, manufacturing, marketing and support of Caterpillar’s line of small, versatile construction machines and attachments for the commercial construction, residential construction, specialty trades, landscaping and agriculture industries. Products include small wheel loaders, compact wheel loaders, backhoe loaders, compact track loaders, mini hydraulic excavators, skid steer loaders, telehandlers and small track-type tractors.

The role of the Sales Support Specialist is to support day-to-day sales and product marketing activities by providing information and assistance to dealers and internal organisations as well as taking ownership of industry growth projects and events.

What you will do:

  • Answering inquiries and resolving problems regarding products and services via calls, email or internet chat.

  • Conducting periodic and regular surveys of customers to determine satisfaction and cross-selling opportunities.

  • Delivering Product and Application training to dealer and customer audiences.

  • Developing new Sales Support Materials as part of Go-To-Market deliverables for STTT and SWL product lines.

  • Developing business plans to seek out growth opportunities for BCP SMALLs products


Skills you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.

  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the organization's industry group, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters; ability to apply industry knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

  • Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.

Skills that will be highly beneficial:

  • Multilingual (Spanish, French preferred)

  • Understanding of construction vehicles and their relevant applications

  • Has delivered multi dealer training

  • Participated in customer visits with Dealers

  • Participated and supported in CI wide customer and dealer events

  • Understanding of Small Track Type Tractor product line and relevant applications

Job Title: Sales Support Specialist

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £35,500-£42,500 depending on experience
