Manufacturing Process Technician V -- L5 Grade
Job Description:
The Manufacturing Process Technician supports and maintains manufacturing processes to ensure safe, quality and efficient production. This role focuses on manufacturing equipment setup, monitoring, troubleshooting and continuous improvement while working closely with Manufacturing engineering, maintenance and Production teams.
What You Will Do:
- Optimize PLC logics and upgrade control parameters to support quality enhancements, efficiency improvements and cost reduction.
- Support end-of-life software & hardware upgrades or replacement to ensure compliance, usability and reliability.
- Participate in technical reviews for new automated equipment, support the preparation of technical specifications and agreements.
- Support the development of new equipment acceptance criteria, assist in initial setup and validation of process parameters, and organize technical documentation (manuals, maintenance guides, program backups).
- Track equipment performance for new automated equipment during initial ramp-up, collect data, and support optimization to achieve designed cycle time and stability.
- Providing technical expertise for Robotic and automated systems’ programming, Write, modify, and debug robot programs to meet production requirements and improve efficiency.
- Provide basic operation/troubleshoot training to line operators, maintenance technicians
- Other duties assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and automation, mechatronics or related fields.
- 3+ years of related experience.
- Familiar with mainstream robots such as FANUC, SIASUN, UR, KUKA, ABB installation, programming and troubleshooting.
- Basic knowledge in SIEMENS PLC & HMI, including hardware installation, troubleshooting and program development with Portal/STEP 7/WINCC. Knowledge in AB PLC is plus.
- Basic knowledge in automation control system integration, including robot, RFID, servo system, etc.
- Ability to use electrical design software such as AutoCAD electrical, EPLAN, etc.
- Intermediate proficiency computer skills with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Able to read and understand technical documentation in English.
