Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

Leads an IT team delivering enterprise applications and manufacturing site technology across Caterpillar’s Large Power Systems Division, with a strong focus on business partnership, customer-centered service delivery, and continuous application improvement.

What You Will Do:

• Customer-Focused Business Partner: Serve as the primary IT point of contact for Large Power Systems business leaders. Build trusted relationships, translate business challenges into IT solutions, and advocate for the customer’s needs within the broader IT organization. Maintain a forward-looking demand pipeline and communicate proactively on delivery status and risk.
• Large Power Information Technology Portfolio Leader: Own the lifecycle of LPSD application portfolios - including Engine Emissions and manufacturing operations applications - ensuring systems are reliable, performant, and aligned to evolving business needs. Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements, prioritize enhancements, manage vendor relationships, and drive continuous improvement.
• Manufacturing Site IT Liaison: Provide IT leadership and support across multiple Large Power Systems manufacturing sites, maintaining engagement with site management and serving as a thought leader for shop floor technology, operational continuity, and issue resolution.
• IT Project Engagement: Sponsor small to large-scale application and infrastructure projects, including delivery of IT capabilities to new or expanding manufacturing facilities. Drive disciplined project execution, stakeholder communication, and on-time delivery.
• Business Engagement Broker: Partner with architects and business to maintain a prioritized roadmap of business needs, create solution proposals, forecast demand, and follow Caterpillar IT demand management and solution request processes.
• Infrastructure & Operations Oversight: Provide oversight for local infrastructure components - network, server, storage, and endpoints - that underpin manufacturing and application environments. Partner with security team to disaster recovery, security controls, and corporate IT compliance objectives across all supported sites.
• Talent Leader: Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing IT team. Mentor team members, foster a culture of accountability and customer service, and build long-term organizational capability.

What You Have:

Demonstrated experience leading IT people in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with a strong track record of building high-performing teams, developing talent, and delivering results in matrixed organizations. (Required)
• Experience managing enterprise application portfolios - including requirements gathering, stakeholder management, application lifecycle, and vendor oversight. Preference for candidates with manufacturing applications and / or regulatory/emissions application experience.
• Proven ability to build credible, trusted relationships with business partners and act as a customer focused advocate within an IT organization.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing shop floor technology and OT/IT integration, with an understanding of the unique demands of production environments.
• Solid foundation in IT infrastructure - network, server, storage, cloud platforms, and virtualization - sufficient to provide informed oversight and direction to technical teams.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity practices, including access controls, patch management, firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills; experience with disaster recovery and high-availability solutions for critical systems.
