Job Summary:
The Connectivity System Solution Division is seeking a leader to fill the Engineering Manager Leader position to provide leadership to people leaders. This role is responsible for leading the team in India and China. This position will provide people and technical leadership to project leads located in India or China. This position will manage our relationship with Resource Industries (RI), Construction Industries (CI) and Power and Energy (PE) product groups across the enterprise including working very closely with Intelligent Machine System (IMS) and including Cat Digital to meet customer solution needs. This position will interact regularly with other product teams (flash, troubleshoot and local service), IMS, Digital Helios and product teams and key stakeholders to focus on developing system requirements, designing system, and aligning software requirement with system requirement to meet business partner’s needs.
In addition, this position will work regularly with customer solutions teams (core and growth) and product groups to establish a single, trusted source for requirements documentation—including marketing, functional, system, software, and hardware requirements—to effectively meet business partner and customer needs by delivering high quality connectivity system and solutions.
What You Will Do:
- Managing staff and activities with an emphasis on organizational goals achievement, professional development and continuous improvement.
- Monitoring and continuously improving product and process performance, quality and cost-effectiveness for all engineering activities and deliverables.
- Providing leadership to create and maintain processes used to design, develop and deliver connectivity systems, features, and services for programs and business partners.
- Managing engineering product and process or quality issues, from concept through end of life-cycle.
- Work with Cat Technology and Digital Tech business and process partners on business objectives for Connectivity System.
- Collaborate with broader global group and leader(s) to meet clients’ objectives for delivery of Connectivity Systems
- Collaborate with product groups, customer solutions, IMS, hardware, firmware, software, cloud and business stakeholders to turn requirements into system requirements
- Work with members of the CI and RI tech forum to prioritize features related to Tech Platform projects that will benefit Caterpillar customers
- Mentor and grow team and SMEs in China & India
- Manage the team’s projects, budget and travel
What You Will Have:
- System Design & Strategy: Architecting end-to-end IoT solutions that meet the specific Connectivity requirements from Caterpillar customers. This involves understanding business objectives, analyzing technical requirements, and designing scalable and efficient architectures.
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in embedded systems, firmware development, cloud technologies (API, AWS/Azure), and networking protocols
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Communicating for Impact: Knowledge of the concepts, tools and techniques for effective listening and communicating; ability to apply these theories to receive, transmit and accurately interpret information and ideas to influence others in various situations.
- Collaborating Globally: Knowledge of effective collaboration techniques and ability to build networks with people from different countries and cultures, think and work with them to bring positive impact and flourishing business results.
Top Candidates will also have
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Proven system and architecture experience in automotive and related industry
- Proven experience in IoT solution design and deployment
- Embedded system experience is preferred
- Proven team leadership experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to persuade others on new technologies, or potential solutions
- Experience with the New Product Introduction (NPI), CPI and NTI process
- Demonstrated strong technical and analytical skills

- This position may require up to 20% travel
