The Large Power Systems Division currently has an opening for an Associate Engineer in the Core Packaging Mechanical Systems. This role will be located in our Bangalore, India office. As an Associate Engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop and maintain components for Caterpillar’s next generation of LPSD Gensets. You will establish strong ties with Genset platform teams while driving strong interaction with all our process partners in Operations, Purchasing and Supply Chain.
The Packaging team is a cross-platform engineering group that manages products for multiple platforms and market segments. As an Associate Engineer in the Large Power Systems Division, you will participate in developing innovative solutions for programs technical requirements/specifications, often complex problems faced by the packaging team based on platform (C15 – C175) and market segment (Electric Power, Oil & Gas, Marine) applications. Teams will consist of both internal and external partners, and you will be responsible for ensuring the proper design, integration, application, and ready for market requirements are met for the packaged generator set in each situation. You will manage the planning and execution of projects, continually learn, and stay abreast of innovative technology and broaden your professional network.
The successful candidate will have experience in component or system design, package/engine application, and/or system integration. Additionally, he or she will have strong people skills for collaborating with process partners and leading teams to identify and implement solutions for issue resolution. Top candidates will have experience with the Med-V, 3500, C175, and 3600 products, demonstrated ability to deliver quality results with a sense of urgency, and experience delivering NPI, NSI, NTI, CPI, and cost reduction projects.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Background in component design
- Basic understanding of Gas and Diesel engines and their working principles.
- Basic understanding of Genset Packages
- Basic understanding of various manufacturing methods for fabrications
- Experience with 3D modeling and engineering drawings
- Experience with FEA tools
- Must have demonstrated excellent analytical skills and understand complex engineering concepts and applications
- Requires strong technical skills who can communicate technical information effectively with team members and stakeholders
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Automobile/Aerospace Engineering,
- Up to 4 years of component design experience
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Master’s degree in an accredited Indian or Global Engineering schools
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to perform complex assignments
- Self-starter with strong project management skills
- Enjoys working in a fast paced, technically challenging environment
- Proven experience in engine or genset components or platform
- Experience with NPI, NSI, NTI, CPI and Cost Reduction processes and programs
- Ability to work on complex projects with many collaborators
- Passion to innovate, inspire, and grow professionally
- Proven analytical, planning, and organization skills
- Experience with high speed and medium speed reciprocating engine gensets
- Customer and Quality focused
- Experience using CREO, CAD Engineering Tools or Custom Computer Programs to design, develop, and calculate performance
