About Us
Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd is located on the outskirts of Wimborne within the Ferndown and Uddens Business Improvement District, ideally positioned along the south coast with excellent national and international transport links.
With approximately 130 employees, the site has over 50 years of heritage manufacturing marine propulsion and auxiliary engines under the renowned Cat® and Perkins Marine® brands. The Wimborne facility produces genset packages ranging from 1.5 litre to 7.1 litre, as well as 7.1 litre propulsion engines.
Our highly skilled designers, engineers, and technicians deliver solutions for commercial, leisure, and military customers. From design and testing through to build, every engine is fully proven before leaving the site, ensuring exceptional performance and reliability for our customers.
Job Opportunity:
To lead the stores team in all aspects of logistics and warehousing procedures necessary to support Manufacturing Assembly Operations and Part Sales. This role reports directly to the Stores Supervisor.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
This position addresses all aspects of direct and indirect material storage necessary to support Wimborne operations. Job duties include leadership, or performance, of all Logistics activities related to inbound/outbound material movement, shipping/receiving and inventory storage systems.
Responsible for establishing and implements short- and long-term Logistic strategies that provide for "Lean" movement of material and product (domestic and international). Maintains practices to achieve Bills of Material and Stock accuracy in SAP.
Arranges the daily activities associated with engine release, kitting, sales orders, goods receipts, stock locating, grief resolution among other related warehouse management activities.
The reporting of all the stores metrics at the E.O.S. daily review meeting.
Problem Solving in a reactive environment to find the root cause of issues and developing permanent solutions which may be required to assist in keeping the warehouse “Critical” activity monitor up to date.
To assist with the annual stock-take and supply to accounts all relevant information.
Pro-Actively Improving “end-to-end” processes in line with CPS activities and maximizing PULL in value stream both before and after the production process.
Ensuring that Stores personnel have adequate training in safety and all stores warehouse procedures.
Carry out monthly 1-2-1’s with team members and ensure goals are being achieved.
Ensuring computer information on kit and bin locations is kept up to date both within the stores and the trackside locations.
Health & Safety – focus on the Health & Safety of all employees in his area of responsibility and carry out weekly audit reviews of all required standard work.
Promote a 5s culture within the stores and report weekly findings to the store supervisor.
Keep the training matrix for all stores team members up to date ensuring all members’ required licences are valid.
Skills and Experience:
Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
A strong working knowledge of eSAP Warehouse Management.
Experienced in material, inventory control and Manufacturing operations
Working knowledge of company products and good analytical skill
Experienced in the use of Microsoft Teams and Excel.
Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Warehouse Management
Previous experience gained in Supervisory or leadership role.
An understanding of Manufacturing Processes.
Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
SAP HANA/ECC Inventory Managed Processes
