Role Definition

  • The role involves reviewing nonstandard transactions to ensure appropriate US GAAP treatment. Additionally, you will support both local and enterprise projects in alignment with our strategic business plan. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining records of organization's financial activity in accordance with GAAP, organizational standards, and in compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Reviews non-standard transactions for appropriate US GAAP accounting, prepares accounting memos, provides US GAAP training, supports local and enterprise objectives
  • Creating reports on financial performance for internal and external use.
  • Completing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including but not limited to: related to foreign exchange, cash management and tax, including preparing the appropriate audit work papers for such activities.
  • Supporting and assisting junior accounting staff in the development of their professional skills.

Degree Requirement

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a bachelor’s degree in another discipline plus 18 credit hours of Accounting, or successful completion of the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam or the international equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years of exempt accounting experience is recommended.  Must have a broad understanding of accounting and business processes and systems.  CPA/CMA is recommended.

  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
  • Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
  • Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.

Consideration for Top Candidates:

  • Extensive experience with US GAAP:  The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding and practical experience with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a talent for building relationships:  We are looking for someone who can effectively communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner, and who excels at building and maintaining professional relationships.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and a varied workload independently:  The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Additional Information:

  • This role is a hybrid position and would require any successful candidate to commit to a 3 day per week in office requirement.

Summary Pay Range:

$116,532.00 - $216,384.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
