The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters). 

Job Summary

The Transportation Analyst provides day-to-day technical and administrative support for logistics staff and activities.

Additional Information

  • The working hours for this position are: Sunday - Friday, 11:00pm - 7:00am, with required overtime every third week of the month. Additional overtime may be required due to current business needs

  • This position does not offer relocation 

  • This position is located in Morton, IL

  • Expected travel for this role is 10% or less

What You Will Do

  • Work closely with Shipping and Operations personnel presenting the correct method of shipping parts and machinery. Provide support in the selection of carriers

  • Checks and analyzes the areas daily progress in answering traffic related problems, processing and shipping urgently needed parts, ensuring import/export orders are shipped according to contract, regulations and company policies, etc. 

  • Manages Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process for all transportation lanes

  • Establishes relationships within the multi-modal transportation network while compliant with the Caterpillar Code of Conduct

  • Investigates and resolve delays in routing problems, analyzing recurring problems and recommending or making changes to resolve related problems and improve deliveries

  • Manages jockey service performance metrics and associated yard management process

  • Responds to dealer calls and providing necessary information and assistance to complete orders

  • Interacts daily with various trucking companies and drivers

What You Have

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail : Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

    Analytical Thinking : Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

    Logistics Management : Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials and supplies.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Knowledge of material flow through Caterpillar facilities

  • Familiarity with Transportation Management and Warehouse Management systems

  • Able to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel both inside and outside the Company, including suppliers and transportation carriers

  • Display a high degree of personal initiative, accountability, teamwork, and customer focus

  • Cross functional collaboration in multi-shift operations

  • Previous experience interfacing with Caterpillar suppliers/dealers

Summary Pay Range:

$28.15 - $42.25

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
