About E&ES:
Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified powertrains, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

Job Summary:
As an Engineering Project Team Leader on the Power Conversion & e-Powertrain Systems validation team, you will be joining an innovative team on the cutting edge of electrification. The Power Conversion team is focused on providing energy site solutions for our customers. The e-Powertrain System team is an electric powertrain solution partner for Caterpillar Inc.'s Construction Industries, Resource Industries, and Energy & Transportation segments' "prime product" groups.
What You Will Do:
Create a validation strategy and activity plan for the Power Conversion & e-Powertrain system products, collaboratively, with systems teams, lab teams, and global machine development groups to establish standard work. Activities should favor virtual , bench, and lab-based techniques.
Drive usage of such tools such as the Failsafe Process and Validation FMEA’s to evaluate the effectiveness of the validation activity plan on critical failure modes, and direct activities to mitigate risk.
As validation needs become known for which there is no robust method, the validation engineer must communicate the need and lead the effort to develop a new procedure.
Creation of Proactive Reliability glide-paths
Coordination and leadership of Simulation & Test Collaboration Workshops (STCWs) at system level, and participation in component, system, machine and/or site level events
Prepare and present a Readiness Summary at Gates 2, 3, & 4 for the e-Powertrain L5 system
Stay abreast of product new content and share w/ other appropriate L4, L5, & L6 Validation Leaders
Obtain Validation Strategy and Commitment from Validation Leaders
Provide guidance to product configurations for testing/validation.
Management of development (NPI) issues
Facilitation of issue resolution with design groups
Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units
Provide Technical guidance, effective training, relationship building, & engagement of other Validation Engineers and capture lessons learned

• Mentors others in improving the efficiency of the test execution processes.
• Oversees the testing processes of to ensure testing can determine whether or not a technical risk has been mitigated
• Consults on product-testing costs, tools, approaches and benefits.
• Directs the development of standards, guidelines and best practices for testing.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

What Will Set You Apart:
Experience with lab component or system-level validation
Experience/detailed understanding of power conversion/charger technology
Experience with NPI Issue resolution process
Experience with electric drive systems and/or components
Solid organizational and facilitation skills (6-Sigma BB or GB)
Additional Information:
The location for this position is Mossville, IL and requires 5-days a week on-site availability
Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $192,710.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
