Caterpillar’s Paving division is hiring for the role of Engineering Project Team Leader – Product Quality based in Brooklyn Park, MN.

Role Summary: In this role you will manage multiple or complex quality improvement initiatives involving cross-functional teams, global facilities, and product/value chains, with a strong emphasis on proactive quality systems, defect prevention, and continuous improvement to achieve quality targets.

What You’ll Do (Job Duties)

  • Develop and lead project scope focused on proactive quality improvement, addressing systemic defects, early-hour reliability issues, and opportunities to prevent defects before reaching customers.
  • Drive proactive quality deployment across New Product Introduction programs, ensuring proper risk assessment, cross-functional engagement, and on-time completion of required deliverables.
  • Actively analyze quality data to identify trends, drive root cause analysis, and initiate corrective actions across product groups, facilities, suppliers, and partners.
  • Coordinate resources across product development, manufacturing, supply chain, and product support to execute worldwide quality improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee project progress and quality metrics; communicate status and risks to stakeholders; and ensure alignment on priorities and actions.
  • Direct project staffing; coach and motivate cross-functional teams to execute proactive quality strategies and deliver measurable improvements.

What You Have (Core Skills)

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Influencing Through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product management environment.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • Degree in Engineering or related field or relevant equivalent experience is also acceptable.
  • Effective communication to collaborate with stakeholders to drive alignment in a complex, global, matrixed organization.
  • A track record of leading teams of individuals to achieve desired results.
  • Strong background in APQP, DFMEA, and New Product Introduction quality processes, with demonstrated impact on product launch quality.

Additional Details

  • Work location: Brooklyn Park, MN
  • Domestic relocation assistance IS available for this role.
  • Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this role.
  • Travel: Up to 25% - Domestic and International
  • This position requires 5 days per week in the office (M-F).

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
