The Role:
The Senior Finance Director, Procurement, is a unique role providing financial leadership for both the Strategic Procurement Division (“SPD”) and the Resource Industries Supply Management (“RISM”) group.
Housed within Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Segment, SPD establishes and supports the procurement vision, processes, and tools for the Enterprise across all segment purchasing groups. It drives Enterprise-wide standards and provides assurance of supply, supplier relationship management, and cost leadership. It is also driving the development of new digital tools and is tasked with advancing procurement talent, capabilities, and technology across the Enterprise. The Division also includes Caterpillar’s Global Demand & Orders Management group, providing end-to-end supply/demand planning for the Company. A recently created division, SPD is driving a transformative agenda.
RISM is the direct material procurement organization for the Resource Industries Segment. Its global team manages billions of dollars of annual purchases for both the Segment and Enterprise. RISM manages thousands of suppliers providing material to dozens of facilities and the aftermarket around the world.
The Senior Finance Director is the top accounting/finance procurement position within the Segment. This professional will serve as the financial lead in collaboration with the SPD VP on key strategic transformational initiatives to ensure return value and impact to the enterprise organization. In addition, this role leads the finance team supporting RISM and its Director of Procurement. Additional responsibilities include oversight of the teams managing the Company’s direct material cost reporting system and providing the FP&A for the Enterprise’s Global Demand & Order Management and Lean Center of Excellence groups.
This is a leadership position within the Resource Industries finance team and the broader Global Finance Division. The nature of this critical role will provide this person with broad exposure across the Segment and Enterprise in addition to serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership. This role reports to the Division CFO for the Segment’s engineering and component manufacturing division. As such, a strong, independent professional is necessary to provide leadership and drive process improvement for these groups.
The Senior Finance Director provides strategic thought leadership and helps to drive the development and implementation of business, finance, and operational strategies of the business unit. The Director is expected to provide counsel and support to the business unit’s top management and is also responsible for the overall business risk management process, the control environment, and the business analysis and decision support functions. This position includes ensuring compliance with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and the overall integrity of the financial reporting function and exercises due diligence to prevent and detect fraud to promote an organizational structure that encourages ethical conduct and a commitment to compliance with the law.
Key Responsibilities:

Leads a diverse and distributed team of direct and in-direct reports.

Primary finance lead for SPD VP as a key member of leadership team, providing insight and counsel to the VP in pursuit of SPD’s transformative agenda in addition to core accounting/finance responsibilities

Partner with RISM Procurement Director and oversee RISM finance team

Leadership of team supporting the enterprise Direct Material Cost Reporting tool

Champion and identify simplification, standardization, and digitization opportunities to create accounting and analysis efficiencies for finance and business

Lead investment analysis for growth initiatives and systems investments

Procurement analysis and insight, assisting and providing guidance for critical supplier situations, negotiations, etc.

Internal Audit support and drive Compliance leadership and control environment

Requires strong ability to work in a matrixed organization and collaborate with business partners
Basic Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in an Accounting or Finance

Leadership experience managing finance teams
-
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills are required to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, and influence internal and external suppliers and customers
Skills:

Finance and Accounting: Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting; ability to apply finance knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.

Summary Pay Range:
$199,680.00 - $299,520.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
