Caterpillar’s Earthmoving division is hiring a Sr. Product Service Engineer! In this role, you will have worldwide accountability for monitoring the overall performance (including reliability, durability, maintainability and repairability) of Construction Motor Graders. 

What You Will Do:  

  • Identify, investigate, and obtain resolution for field problems to maintain/improve Construction Motor Grader performance for both current production and new product introduction programs 
  • Problem identification for dealers, field reps, process partners through dealer solution network (DSN) technical communicator (TC) meetings and direct customer visits 
  • Participate in continuous product improvement (CPI), Find It/Triage activities and cost reductions (investigations involve statistical analysis, failure analysis on returned parts, internal or supplier process reviews, and direct factory or field investigation) 
  • Participate in corrective action(s) creation, which can be in the form of suggested design changes and/or manufacturing process improvements for quick solutions (ICA), long term field repairs (PCA) and factory implementation 
  • Responsible for creating and publishing service magazines, special instructions, and field rework requests through product service letters  
  • Report overall Construction Motor Grader health to management team on a regular basis to confirm or define action plans to achieve defect per unit targets and overall CPI coverage 
  • Act as the primary lead service engineer on select Construction Motor Grader new product introductions and annual product updates   
  • Planning and executing field follow programs to evaluate overall customer acceptance of new product 
  • Conduct serviceability audits on field follow machines and provide input for the setting serviceability targets stated in the functional specifications 
  • Promote aftermarket growth through current kit sales and identify new aftermarket opportunities through direct voice of the customer  

What You Have (Basic Qualifications):  

  • Customer Focus : Proven ability to collaborate directly with customers, dealers, and field representatives to gather insights and improve product performance.
  • Service Excellence : Experience in planning and executing field follow programs and conducting serviceability audits to enhance the customer experience.
  • Effective Communications: Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated through creating and publishing service magazines, special instructions, product service letters or similar communication channels.
  • Problem Solving : Skilled in identifying and resolving field problems using statistical analysis, root cause identification, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Technical Excellence : Knowledge in product improvement processes, including CPI and defect resolution, ensuring high reliability, durability, and maintainability.

Top Candidates Will Have:  

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably Engineering
  • Knowledge or experience working with motor graders and/or products

  • Location:  Peoria, IL 
  • Travel up to 25% (potential for international and domestic)
