Job Summary:
This position is on the Enterprise Connectivity Team within the CAT Digital organization.  This team has enterprise accountability for the telematics product line strategy, rationalization, quality, regulatory compliance and cost as well as the associated telecommunications. Telecommunications and carrier management includes contracts, rate/cost management, technology expertise, support, and development projects around related technologies and regional deployment.  Connected devices and telecom management are critical enablers to our services growth strategy as well as being foundational to the deployment of effective digital solutions for our dealers and customers worldwide.

What You Will Do:
This specific role will report to the Cat Digital VP of Connectivity and have responsibility for anything that deals with satellite and cellular connectivity for the Caterpillar telematics solutions.  They will manage the Connectivity Telecom team that includes the following activities / responsibilities:

  • Telecom Strategy including cellular and satellite connectivity
  • Lead Telecom related projects through architecture, development and validation process
  • Work with the Connectivity NPI (New Product Introduction) to ensure these emerging technologies are integrated as appropriate into now products and services
  • Ensure Caterpillar understands emerging cellular technologies such as 5G SA and eSIM capabilities
  • Ensure Caterpillar understands emerging satellite technologies such as NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network), DtC (Direct to Cell) and broadband capabilities
  • Work with Caterpillar Business Resources on budgets, invoices and cost management
  • Rate Plan (cost) Management for all carriers
  • Carrier Relationship Management with all current and future carrier partners
  • Work with procurement and legal teams on all telecom connectivity related contracts
  • Work with internal regulatory experts and carrier partners to ensure compliance and connectivity worldwide
  • Work with the Connectivity Quality team and carriers on any telecom related issues worldwide
  • Work with architecture and “sensor to desktop” technical organizations on any telecom related development and issue resolution
  • Providing written and verbal project status updates

  • Coaches others on key factors that differentiate offerings from that of competition.
  • Develops procedures for product planning, development, and delivery cycles.
  • Promotes understanding of multiple product and service groups and their interdependencies.
     

Analytical Thinking:

  • Organizes and prioritizes the sequence of steps to be taken to remedy the situation.
  • Identifies many possible causes for a problem based on prior experience and current research.
  • Quantifies the costs, benefits, risks and chances for success before recommending a course of action.
     

Considerations For Top Candidates:

  • Expertise in cellular technologies including eSIM technology
  • Expertise in satellite technologies including IoT, broadband, NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) and DtC (Direct to Cell)
  • Knowledge of End to End (Sensor to Desktop) IoT/Telematics or related technology solutions
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar products, solutions and processes

Additional Details:

  • This position has the option to be based out of either our Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL offices with a flexible hybrid work environment.

Summary Pay Range:

$156,000.00 - $253,560.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
