Job Summary

The Welder I carries out processes according to standard welding procedures.  Welds out assembled structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks and pressure vessels by performing the following duties. Work is closely supervised and follows routine standard processes.

Starting Pay: $27.40 and can be adjusted with experience.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with the opportunity for overtime.

What you will do:

• Sets up equipment and welds parts using shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) (stick welding), gas metal arc welding (GMAW)(MIG), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG).
• Reads blueprints to ensure accuracy of finished parts.
• Must be able to perform and pass welding certification tests.
• Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
• Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
• Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
• Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Resolves welding needs and issues by applying expertise and industry knowledge (to include usage of welding codes).
• Other duties as requested or required

What You Will Have:

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Have a clean driving record, which generally means:
  • No more than (2) moving violations within the last 12 months.
  • No more than three (3) moving violations in the past three (3) years.
• High school diploma with up to 3 months related workplace experience; or six months vocational/technical training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrate the ability to accurately complete all work-related documents
• Fluency in English (read, write, comprehend)                            
• Must have mechanical aptitude
• Observe safety and security procedures

Top Candidates Will Have:

• Previous Forklift experience

Physical Demands: 

• Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
• Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Consistently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department

Work Environment: 

• Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles
• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
• Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration
• Noise Level: Moderate

Summary Pay Range:

$23.40 - $31.40
