The Opportunity
As the Business Development Director (Strategy Director) for Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Sales, Services and Technology (RISST), this position will be responsible for setting the direction and strategy for the division as well as provide leadership in the development, coordination, and implementation of key strategic projects.
Reporting directly to the Division CFO of RISST and working closely to the RISST SVP and VPs, this role primary goal is to set the strategic direction and support business growth. The position will provide leadership and facilitation to the overall governance process for all major initiatives, established and identified as the highest priorities for the division, as well as critical projects sponsored.
What you will do:
- Formulate commercial strategies to ensure RISST delivers a sustainable, competitive advantage while maximizing total shareholder return
- Facilitate analysis across the value chain and functions within RI to identify major strategic initiatives that align to our vision, mission and strategy and will add significant, incremental enterprise value
- Define and manage the governance process required to achieve committed initiatives (i.e.cadence, milestones, risks and opportunities)
- Coordinate with Business Resources in the development of the annual and 5-year business plans
- Govern the division-wide development and consistency of detailed implementation plans and performance metrics required to effectively execute projects as committed
- • Provide strategic consulting and project management across RISST, as required
- Collaborate with internal communications team to ensure appropriate, timely and aligned messaging is cascaded specific to divisional strategy and initiatives
- Develop, coordinate and collaborate on preparation of presentations for Executive Office reviews, Board presentations, Group Presidents reviews and/or Operating Council presentations
- Implement new tools and analytics to continuously improve analysis, business insights, risk evaluation and enterprise learning of solutions selling.
- Drive effective coordination and strong collaboration with enterprise partners and dealers.
What Skills you will have:
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or 12 years equivalent experience
- Business Acumen: Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations. Explains the organization's business model and competitive position in the marketplace.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Makes sound business decisions on behalf of the group when faced with complex and contradictory alternatives.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

- Knowledge of how a corporate environment operates, including products, services, policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated success and progression in previously held leadership roles
- Credentialed expertise (MBA) and solid practical experience

Summary Pay Range:
$185,400.00 - $278,160.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
