Job Summary:
In this position, you will provide technical and strategic leadership across multi-functional teams that execute multiple workstreams focusing on modularity and commonality for the Load and Haul Products Division which include the product lines of Large Wheel Loaders, Articulated Trucks, Hard Rock Vehicles (Underground), and Wheel Tractor-Scrapers. You will play a key role in the technical leadership of the Fabrications (Light and Heavy) workstreams for project Convergence with a keen eye on Quality, Time, and Cost (Investments and Benefits). This role will be expected to work across multiple workstreams at the same time and collaborate with all four Load and Haul product teams. You will be responsible for identifying and finding improvement opportunities in this space that exist across each of the different products, designs, and processes and then executing strategies to address them. What You Will Do:
- Lead design of machine component/system strategies and contribute to establish the division strategy for multiple product groups. Examples include: defining the project/program and machine configuration modularity strategy; evaluating new products and competitive products; communicating technology to team members, suppliers, and other units; supporting and advising other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers, suppliers, and other process partners.
- Develop solutions for complex technical engineering problems and may be accountable for the design or improvement of complex systems including advanced concepts that align the systems & product to the division & product line strategy.
- Understand of customers’ needs and product application as well as competitive products and understand cost drivers.
- Keep up to date with technology and develop increased technical breadth and/or depth.
Education requirement:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in an accredited Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering curriculum.

Effective Communications:
- Communicate project status, schedule, and plan to team, affected personnel, and management stakeholders.
- Schedule and conduct/facilitate team meetings
- Communicate to adjacent workstream teams to gain consensus on strategy, objectives, and direction.
- Adapts presentations for the intended audience at team and management levels
- Convey specific project strategy upwards and downwards
- Articulate Load & Haul Convergence visions and how it applies to workstream and product lines.
Problem Solving :
- Knowledge and proficiency of MS 365 applications
- Knowledge using CREO and Siemens Teamcenter applications.
- Ability to lead project team and individuals to evaluate and guide team to optimal solutions weighing customer benefit and business investment required.
Product Design - MFG:
- Knowledge of product design in the area of fabrication design and manufacture.
- Advise team and others on the standards required for fabrications design and build.
- Train others on fabrication design and supplier capability.
- Monitors the processes and procedures of a complex product design to ensure functional requirements are met.
- Evaluate customer and product needs for fabrication optimization across multiple products.
- Knowledge of fabrication cost drivers.
Conceptual Thinking:
- Guide the team through solution development for fabrication commonality and modularity.
- Link module development to scalable customer offerings
- Lead commonality analysis focusing on as-is and to-be for competitive advantage.

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $189,000.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
