Job Summary:

At Caterpillar’s Decatur, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble Large Mining and Construction Equipment.  In this role as a Supply Chain Planning Analyst, you will report to the Logistics Manager, and your primary responsibility will be to support Transportation.  As a member of the Supply Chain team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture.  We have a fabulous team that does some of the most exciting work at Caterpillar, and we can’t wait for you to join the team!

What you will do:

  • Identify and lead initiatives to improve the supply-chain process utilizing Six Sigma methodology.
  • Supporting cross-functional teams to improve Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost metrics.
  • Develop and implement supply chain processes using LEAN principles for manufacturing areas, including standard work, material handling equipment and floor layouts.
  • Support design and implementation of material packaging and containerization solutions for the facility.
  • Develop and maintain the Plan for Every Part in various planning tools.
  • You will work both in the office and on the manufacturing shop floor .

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Bachelors in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain preferred
  • Previous supply chain experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Significant project management experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in analyzing power apps to increase efficiency

What Skills you will have:

Logistics Management:
• Uses tools, with guidance, to forecast plan for every part, streamline efficiencies as it relates logistics receiving processes, determine costs and assess performance.
• Works with logistics in a domestic environment.
• Maintains records of all shipments and invoices using an established system.
• Assists in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity.
• Participates in integrating logistics processes and developing effective networks.

Problem Solving :
• Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort.
• Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts.
• Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.
• Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes.
• Analyzes and synthesizes information and devises alternative resolution strategies.
• Develops successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems.

Project Management :
• Utilizes preferred tools, techniques and methods for estimating project cost and time.
• Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant projects.
• Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.
• Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with project team, sponsors, and clients.
• Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties.
• Communicates reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms.

• Ability to manage multiple projects at once

Supply Chain Management - MFG :
• Manages supply chain finance activities and measurements of effectiveness.
• Advises others on capacity issues at various points in the supply chain.
• Monitors the complete supply chain management process.
• Consults on supply chain network design projects or processes.
• Quantifies and evaluates benefits and risks of various supply chain strategies and approaches.
• Participates in joint planning, process design/redesign with clients and partners.

Additional Information:

The primary location for this position is Decatur, IL

Domestic relocation assistance is available

This position may require 10% travel

Summary Pay Range:

$87,480.00 - $131,280.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
