Caterpillar’s North American Product Marketing team in Global Construction & Infrastructure (GCI) is hiring a Sales Support Consultant ! If you enjoy leveraging data to create insights that empower your team to succeed, this is a great opportunity for you! 


What You’ll Do (Essential Functions)

In this role, you’ll be the commercial support resource for district reps, account managers, sales support consultants, and leaders in GCI to support the achievement of the annual Business Plan (PINS / OPACC) by monitoring the business and generating recommendations from data that contribute to both short-term and long-term initiatives.

  • Manage a significant library of standardized reports and send out on a regular basis; Utilize Excel and other data visualization tools to complete regular and ad hoc reporting

  • Consult with the product groups, districts and dealers in developing and implementing customer solutions designed to maximize product value and price

  • Represent GCI on sales issues relating to the products / markets including implementing the new product marketing activities

  • Called upon to provide active consultative services to Caterpillar dealers, product groups, other enterprise partners and customers as required

  • Represent the division on issues related to the products and commercial performance in territory including PINS trend, demand fluctuations and customer requirements

  • Support sales efforts initiated by districts as well as recommend overall sales support programs to correct business plan shortfalls and capitalize on identified incremental sales opportunities

  • Support districts and dealers at shows, customer programs, product training and other district sales initiatives

  • Provide training, marketing messages, merchandising programs, sales variance, competitive analysis and sales forecast

  • Provide Voice of Business and technical expertise for new data insights tools developed by our central team in GCI

  • Lead data collection efforts for our North America Pay for Performance and Annual Target Setting (PINS) processes

What You Have (Skills & Qualifications)

  • Advanced data analysis skills: Advanced user skills within Power BI and Excel , including complex macros and aggregating multiple data sets into a file.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate data insights and trends to audience.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking skills: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.

Additional Skills for Success (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Strong organizational, planning and project management skills

  • Tableau experience

  • IBM Cognos Analytics experience

  • Understanding of Snowflake

  • Bachelor’s degree
