Large Power Systems Division (LPSD):

We design and manufacture the most comprehensive lineup of large diesel and natural gas engines in the industry, as well as engine components and powertrains. 

What You Will Do (including but not limited to):

Are you looking for an opportunity to learn a specialized skill within a manufacturing environment? Caterpillar in East Peoria, IL is looking to train new employees  that desire to become our next employees in Heat Treat. The Metal Treating Specialist Trainee program is a paid program designed to provide a unique learning experience for highly motivated individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing and learning new skills. Positions may be available on all shifts after training on 1st shift for 4-6 weeks at the facility. Upon completion of the program, individuals will be responsible for:

  • Set up, operation and adjustment heat-treat equipment to perform carburizing, cycle annealing and die quenching of gears Physical Qualifications (With or Without Accommodation)

  • Will work in environment that has extreme temperatures

  • Work in environment with frequently changing temperatures

  • Stand for a minimum of 8 hour shifts

  • Frequent walking, bending, reaching

  • Occasional stooping, crouching, and climbing

  • Repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling rotating

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or previous work/volunteer experience

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or previous work/volunteer experience

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures

  • Basic computer skills

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work overtime when required, including weekends

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous heat treat experience

  • Previous machine shop experience

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Strong commitment to safety at all times

  • Excellent attitude and willingness to learn

Additional Information:

  • Positions are available for 3rd shift in East Peoria Bldg. KK

  • This is a supplemental position – minimum 40 hours per week with limited benefits available

  • Pay is $22.25 hr

  • Relocation is not offered for this position

  • This position requires no travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$22.25 - $24.35

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
