The purpose of Caterpillar’s Leadership & Technical Development Program (LTDP) is to harness your ability and energy and invest in you through training and development opportunities so that you may not only fulfill your personal career and development ambition, but provide excellent service to Caterpillar and especially, Caterpillar employees. 

You will gain a wealth of experience while in the development program in roles  focused on EHS compliance, project management, culture transformation, operations supervision, facility sustainability, and more!  LTDP offers you a broad exposure to Caterpillar, presents diverse project responsibilities, engages you in global teams, provides cross-functional job experiences, and includes valuable networking opportunities with all levels of Caterpillar leadership. 

So, what’s the program commitment then? 

The LTDP is a two to three-year rotational development program, consisting of  1-year rotational assignments  across various business areas and locations.   

  • Assignments are based on business needs and provide on-the-job learning with challenging deliverables. 

  • Eagerness to jump right in and make the most of each assignment is a must!  

  • The possibility of relocation is a requirement to join the program and may be required throughout the program  as you maneuver in and out of different positions during the diverse rotational assignments.  Locations across the United States are potential relocation options.  

  • Relocation benefits are offered to those who qualify. 

Base salary for this role ranges from  $75,900   to   $113,856  . Actual salary will be based on degree, completed degree level and prior internship experience at Caterpillar. The total rewards package, beyond base salary includes:​

Those interested in joining the Leadership and Technical Development Program in our Environmental, Health, & Safety track must meet the following requirements for further consideration: 

  • A current student, or recent grad, attending a 4-year accredited university/college earning a minimum Bachelors’ degree in one of the following degree programs:  Environmental, Health, & Safety | Safety Management | Occupational Safety | Occupational Health & Safety | Environmental Health | Environmental Science | Environmental Engineering | Sustainability | Other equivalent EHS Degrees

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8/4.0 scale (no rounding) 

  • Graduation date between May 2023 and June 2025 

  • Willing to relocate to any location/state and travel according to business needs, upon hire and throughout the three-year program 

Top Candidates will also possess: 

  • Previous relevant work experience or internship in EHS, manufacturing, supply chain or operations industry 

  • Leadership involvement on campus, community service and/or extracurricular activities 

  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills 

  • Interest and willingness to lead 

  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental, health, & safety principles
