As an Environmental/Health/Safety (EHS) intern, you will have the opportunity to work on and provide leadership in environmental or safety projects which are completed by the end of the summer and add direct value to the facility and the intern’s experience. Your internship will culminate in a presentation of work to leaders. 

Session Availability:

Summer 2024: May 13, 2024 – August 02, 2024

This is a 40-hour-per-week assignment will be Monday through Friday and will last 12 weeks in the summer. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities will be assigned according to your qualifications and may include, but are not limited to:  

  • Trend analysis of global environmental or safety data in line with our Sustainability Goals 

  • Safety and environmental culture initiatives 

  • Development of proactive programs 

  • Delivery of EHS learning to assist our facilities worldwide 

  • Industrial hygiene sampling at one of our manufacturing facilities 

  Key Skills  

  • Environmental skills 

  • Health and Safety skills  

Basic Qualifications  

  • Must be enrolled full time at a 4-year accredited university/college in one of the following degree programs: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences, Environmental and Ecological Engineering, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources and Environmental Science 

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8/4.0 (no rounding) 

  • Expected graduation date December 2024 and beyond 

  • 12 completed semester hours at a 4-year university prior to start of internship or currently participating in a Caterpillar student program and will be attending a 4-year university beginning Fall 2024 

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Leadership Experience or Skills 

  • Relevant internship or work experience in functional field or demonstrated eager to immerse in directed research 

  • Ability to work with minimal to modest supervision 

  • Experience in project work 

  • Demonstrated leadership that requires organizing or working with groups 

  • Excellent written communications skills; PowerPoint, Word, Excel skills well-developed 

  • Ability to articulate analytical data and summarize for executive or leadership readers ​ ​
