The position involves detailed technical work in a collaborative team environment, so strong technical capability, foundational product development skills, as well as interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills are critical.  This role is primarily as an individual contributor / technical expert, although project / team leadership responsibilities may also be required.

  • Develop and understand the key elements of an optimal strategic supplier partnership, including but not limited to items such as technical offering, validation capability, commercial and Intellectual Property considerations, quality history, development approach, and supply chain resiliency.
  • Collaborate on “make vs. buy” decisions for key components.
  • Evaluate the growing supply base through both virtual and in-person assessments.
  • Stay on the leading edge of the electric motor industry, including new technologies, vendors, and capabilities.
  • Make recommendations around appropriate levels of supplier engagement, from available off-the-shelf components through joint development to potential Joint Ventures, capital investment, or acquisition.
  • Assess tradeoffs and make data-driven strategy recommendations to stakeholders in multiple positions and levels within the organization.
  • Integrate partnership assessments and recommendations into the larger Electrified Components Strategy
  • Develop, maintain, and continually update a PF motor sourcing matrix in conjunction with other parts of the organization.
