Caterpillar is hiring a Supply Network Quality Engineer I in our Minneapolis, MN facility. This role is accountable for operating and monitoring the external supplier network to meet the defined quality targets enabling optimal and efficient facility operations, collaborating with business partners and suppliers, and resolving facility specific supplier quality issues.
What You’ll Do (Essential Responsibilities)

Ensure zero defect material and services flow for the facility from source to dock and additional required points

Determine a short-term action plan with the facility management and the supplier that allows manufacturing operations to continue without a detrimental impact to the process from a quality perspective

Manage the Corrective Action Process on Supplier Related Quality Issues

Identify, contain and ultimately eliminate the defect through Root-Cause-Corrective-Action Analysis (RCCA), 8D, rework and containment plans, and strong communication and collaboration with suppliers

Using both facility based and purchasing reporting systems (NCMs, EtQ, MRDR’s, POU documentation), communicate supplier corrective action details to ensure that the customer is totally confident in Containment and Final Corrective Action Plans

Maintains close working relationships with Suppliers, Quality Groups, Logistics and Material Planning Groups, Procurement Groups, Supplier Development Engineers
How You’ll be Successful (Basic Qualifications)
-
3+ years of quality, engineering, product development or advanced product quality planning (APQP) OR 3 years of closely aligned functional work experience demonstrating direct support/collaboration with supplier quality personnel and processes
Additional Keys to Success (Desired Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree is preferred
-
Advanced communication and analytic tools knowledge (SAP, Excel, etc.)

Project leadership experience

Demonstrated problem-solving experience

Prior quality planning experience
-
Ability to work cross functionally successfully

Prime product experience is preferred

Experience understanding and interpreting specifications and prints
