Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, as the Manufacturing Engineer you will provide manufacturing engineering support for a particular zone of the assembly line ensuring velocity and quality for the zone.
The Building Construction Products (BCP) division at Caterpillar is a global organization responsible for design, manufacture and support of Caterpillar's line of small, versatile construction equipment and, in Athens, GA we manufacture the Mini Hydraulic Excavator (MHEX) and Small Track Type Tractor (STTT) products lines.
Among other responsibilities, as the Manufacturing Engineer, you can expect to:
- Responsible for creation and communication for work instructions.
- Create machine routings using SAP
- Manage capital projects related to Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost
- Design and implement lifting devices and any fixturing required for machine ease of assembly
- Address internal and external quality issues in relation to zone of responsibility.
- Manage capacity and model mix changes
- Creating and modifying the build process for NPI or Continuous Improvement
The successful candidate must bring (Basic Qualifications) :
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or Engineering Technology curricula.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
Top candidates will also have (Desired Qualifications; not required) :
- Experience in manufacturing/operations as an intern or co-ops
- Experience with Manufacturing systems
- Knowledge of engineering concepts
- Manufacturing related skills such as:
- Ability to read prints/specifications
- Budget or project management
- SAP
