As a Sales Support Representative – Industrial Engines, you will be responsible for working with Account Managers and S&OP team to market Caterpillar and Perkins products and services and assist in the development of dealer sales capability.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may Include, but are not limited to: 

  • Support and develop product sales, dealer effectiveness, overall segment growth, New Product Introduction (NPI) process, process improvement, sales management process improvement, etc by working with the account managers (AM) who handle the various dealers and distributors.

  • Work with AMs to counsel dealers in developing increased performance capability

  • Work with AMs on assisting dealers on forecast, sales/rental/used strategy planning and sales techniques

  • Support rollout of new products (e.g., products, parts, customer service agreements, other service products)

  • Analyze and communicate marketplace and competitive activity to Caterpillar personnel and dealers (through AMs)

  • Analyze product application, configuration and utilization that provide the best solution for a customer

  • Work with AMs to help  create and promote programs that increase sales while maximizing price realization

  • Understand customer/dealer market and needs and build an understanding of how and why decisions are made within work group and organization.

  • Stay abreast of industry and technology changes and relate those changes to Caterpillar, dealer and customer needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar discipline

  • 5+ years of experience working in a similar capacity (Industry Representative and/or other dealer/distributor account focused roles

  • Excellent written, oral, presentation and influencing skills

  • Ability to take initiative and drive creative ideas forward

  • Ability to thrive and adapt in a high growth, rapidly changing environment

  • Passion for collaboration and ability to align multiple stakeholders internally and externally

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience working directly with dealers developing product sales, strategy, etc.

  • The ability to navigate sales, supply plan, negotiate pricing, sell value proposition of the product and work with the dealers on implementing the IPSD and Caterpillar’s overall strategy


  • Up to 15% (Regional/Domestic)
