Job Description:

Caterpillar is hiring for a Program Specialist to support the procurement teams in our Earthmoving products division.  In this role you will obtain and provide a variety of information starting at the concept stage and continuing through implementation and follow-up stages of various projects and programs.

Additionally, you will manage change and take active leadership in timely decision making. You will manage schedules that reflect detailed information related to the changes, including affected processes and functions, timelines for various stages of project completion, costs, etc.  You will work with individual team members from multiple functional disciplines (procurement, supply chain, engineering, IT, etc.). You will monitor progress of projects, discusses problems with affected areas, assures appropriate personnel are informed of problems and steps are in place to meet scheduled dates. Depending on nature of problems, you will recommend possible solutions and alternatives.
 

In this role, you can expect to deliver individual projects that are moderate to complex in nature and are managed with limited supervision, provide leadership in the development and updates of program and project management schedules, and be accountable to ensure project deliverables are achieved on time, within budget and scope.  You will, also, provide training on new tools or processes as they are developed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver outcomes and enable achievement of strategic goals of the organization. 

  • Develop and enhance relationships with key stakeholders, understand the business and navigate within the organization to drive projects/programs effectively. 

  • Bring diverse and thought-provoking perspectives and points of view to explore solutions working with team members. 

  • Utilize professional project management tools and techniques to manage reporting, tracking charts, checklists, and project scheduling.

  • Develop and manage best practices and leverage lessons learned across projects.  

  • Assist with documentation, training, and usability efforts for completed projects.

  • Conduct data analytics to identify and develop actionable business-related opportunity to enable business performance.   

  • Awareness/experience of leveraging technology as enablers and ability to troubleshoot system issues relevant to Procurement related processes including but not limited to SQL Server tables, data transfers and integration between systems, SAP system issues, BOBJ reporting issues, etc.  

Required Qualifications:

  • 4-year college or university degree

  • 3+ years of progressively related experience with a technical or analytical focus

  • This position requires proven experience with project management concepts, including project charters, scheduling and planning projects and successful completion experience is required.

  Top candidates will also have the following skillsets:

  • Knowledge in designing of dynamic views and visualizations for large and complex data sets in Tableau and/or Power BI

  • Knowledge of VBA, SQL, Snowflake

  • Knowledge of Mach 1 SAP

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or influence others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.

  • Should have strong project management skills, team leadership skills, excellent communication skills, ability to multitask effectively, strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Professional training in project management software and techniques as well as and leading and facilitating meetings is highly desired.

  • Previous Green Belt or Black Belt experience and purchasing/ supply chain experience is a plus.

Additional Details:

  • This position would ideally be located in Brooklyn Park, MN  (Minneapolis metro area); however, open to considering other Caterpillar Earthmoving facilities within the U.S. (Aurora, IL; Decatur, IL; Peoria, IL; & North Little Rock, AR)

  • This position has a hybrid work schedule

  • ISE assignment is not available for this position 

  • Relocation assistance is available for this position.
