To analyze and evaluate developments in commodity/foreign exchange markets, help develop strategies to manage commodity/foreign exchange price risks, recommend and implement strategies and maintain appropriate documentation. Work closely with Global Purchasing to consult with purchasing employees on commodity and foreign exchange issues; provide commodity and foreign exchange training
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Assess the company's risk exposure in selected commodities/currencies and analyze and evaluate factors that could impact the cost of covering those exposures. Requires continuous contact with corporate bank traders and economists plus extensive reading on developments in assigned risk areas and hedging products. Help develop strategies to manage assigned responsibilities.
Works with Global Process Manager to implement approved strategies and must have knowledge of sophisticated commodity/foreign exchange instruments and option tools. Recommends an appropriate price to trade and work with corporate banks for quotes.
Prepare reports for upper management on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis. Ensure coverage is within agreed limits and properly settle contracts. Participate in quarterly review sessions with Corporate Treasurer, V.P. of Finance Services Division and Chief Financial Officer. Must be able to explain selected strategies to this Executive management group.
Set monthly peg rates and annual business plan rates for the company. Prepare files for upload to the corporate general ledger and verify accounts balance. Explain monthly marked-to-market results on outstanding contracts. Lead Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), Internal Audit, and Price Waterhouse Coopers reviews for all commodity/foreign exchange derivatives. Develop, update and maintain documentation for Risk Management audits to ensure acceptable controls are in place.
Manages the Commodity/Foreign Exchange modules within the Quantum Treasury workstation. Assists in managing the commodity/foreign exchange forecast process. Manage interfaces between 360T (trading platform), Misys (confirmation platform), Quantum (contract management/reporting platform) and the Caterpillar accounting systems.
Provides advice to business units on commodity risks and currency usage. Train individuals on commodity/foreign exchange risk management best practices, often in formal presentations. Has shared responsibility for training other risk management administrators in trading tools, policies and practices, system usage, and report preparation. In addition to commodity responsibilities, the incumbent may have responsibilities in foreign exchange risk management.
Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned
* Bachelor’s degree within finance, accounting, business administration, or economics
* 5-7 years of finance related experience

* Strong communication skills
* Experience in working on teams and in negotiating situations.
* Highly developed computer and communication skills
* High level of responsibility, initiative, and stress tolerance.

- Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify
- This position would ideally be located in Peoria, IL ; however open to considering other Caterpillar facilities (Nashville, TN and Irving, TX candidates permanent address must be within 50-mile driving distance to a Caterpillar facility)
- 25% travel is expected
