About SPM Oil and Gas

The Role

SPM Oil & Gas currently has opening for an Iron Technician located in Grand Prairie, Alberta. The Iron Technician provides assembly and testing of various mechanical components. The Iron Technician is a skilled, experienced technician with the ability to perform most tasks independently, while seeking guidance or training for more critical tasks. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assists Iron Technicians during the disassemble phase  
  • Clean, strip and inspect all required flow control components  
  • Prepare flow control products for Gauging, Ultra Sonic, and MPI inspections  
  • Ability to demonstrate the disassemble of flow control products per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)  
  • Ability to identify SPM and Customer product 
  • Ability to assemble flow control product  
  • Nondestructive Testing Trainee (NDT Trainee)  
  • Manifold tear down/rebuild trainee  
  • Requires knowledge of SPM products and customer standards  
  • Inventory Incoming Iron  
  • Provides proper care and maintenance of all shop tools, equipment, and work area 
  • Monitors daily work activities to ensure requirements are met  
  • Performs other routine duties as assigned 

Required Background / Skills:                                               

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.     

Ideally you will have knowledge of:

Fluency in English (read, write, comprehend)                            

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems

Must have mechanical aptitude

Conflict solving skills, including managing difficult customer situations.

Observe safety and security procedures
