We are in search of a skilled mobile app developer who can build efficient and highly scalable mobile applications. They will have to design low-latency and high-volume applications for Android and iOS systems. This candidate will also help improve application security, set up best practice guidelines, and stay ahead of the technology curve. As a Mobile developer, you’ll collaborate with internal teams to develop functional mobile applications, while working in a fast-paced environment. Job Purpose:

A mobile developer is responsible for translating code into user-friendly applications. They collaborate with internal teams to develop functional mobile applications while working in a fast-paced environment. Mobile developers develop application programming interfaces (APIs) to support mobile functionality while keeping up to date with terminology, concepts, and best practices for coding mobile apps. Essentially, mobile developers contribute to the design, testing, release, and support of the application.

Basic Qualifications:  

  • 4 year college or university degree required with a technical focus is highly desirable, preferably in Computer Science 

  • 6 plus years of progressively responsible job-related experience in multiple business units are typically required

  • Experience with web development tools and technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, front-end web frameworks, and web services.  

The Top Candidate Will Also Have:

  • Experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux

  • Five or more years of software development experience using languages like C#, Java, .NET, Python, HTML, JavaScript, Kotlin, Swift, or Objective-C 

  • Experience in software development leadership    

  • Experience with web development tools and technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, front-end web frameworks, and web services.  

  • Remain up to date with the terminology, concepts, and best practices for coding mobile apps

  • Work closely with colleagues to constantly innovate app functionality and design

  • Assist Mobile developers in day-to-day work

  • Participate in enterprise projects as a Mobile subject matter expert and a developer advocate

  • Lead projects and participate in other activities that define Mobile strategy

  • Nurture the existing Mobile community by participating in the community, leading activities that promote community, and promoting the reusability of libraries shared in the community

  • Provide implementation-specific guidelines for complying with Caterpillar’s security, legal, and brand policies

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or influence others inside and outside the department to take specific actions

  • Excellent communication skills, strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Professional training in leading and facilitating meetings is highly desired.

  • Candidate must be a team player who has a strong IT background and application development skills, the ability to provide technical leadership and coaching to a team of developers, good interpersonal skills, and be a self-starter.     

  • Knowledge or experience in one or more: mobile web, hybrid, or native mobile application development for iOS, Android, or Windows platforms. 

  • Experience with Cordova, Capacitor, Ionic, Xamarin, React Native, Flutter, or other cross-platform mobile frameworks 

  • Experience with SQL development, preferably with one or more of Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, MySQL, or SQLite. 

  • Experience using Visual Studio, VS Code, Android Studio, Eclipse, or Xcode integrated development environments (IDEs).  

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform. 

  • Experience with pipelines and releases using Azure DevOps or experience with GitHub Actions. 

  • Experience with Git 

  • Experience with development tools such as Unity 

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity policies, procedures, and directives
