We currently have an exciting opportunity at SPM Oil & Gas, a newly acquired Caterpillar company for an Injection Molding Machine Operator. The role performs the following:

• Set up and operate the injection molding machine

• Identify sucker rod grades, mold, guide style and material being used as per the work order

• Ensure good quality of the rod guides by cleaning the flashing and painting the specific part of the sucker rods with inhibitor

• Maintain accurate records related to the activity of the shift

• Assists co-workers in resolving technical problems

• Confers with technical personnel and managers/supervisors to report and resolve assembly and testing problems, and reports unresolved problems

• Feed resin to the injection molding machines, weigh and record the usage in the material usage form

• Inspect production and eliminate defective parts

• Clean and maintain the machine and surrounding areas at the end of the shift

• Perform routine maintenance of the equipment to maintain perfect functioning

• Respect the safety procedures and ensure proper use of PPE

• Performs other routine duties

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or general education diploma (GED); with two + years of experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one to one and small group situations to other employees in the organization.

Mathematical: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all unites of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Ability to interpret procedure changes and work orders.

Other Skills: Must have mechanical aptitude.

Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close, distance, color and peripheral vision.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.  The nose level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including steel toed safety shoes and safety glasses are required in most areas of the facility.
