Job Description

As Senior Electrification Design Engineer, you will manage the concept, design, and development of electrical and control systems for multiple new products. You will be a key contributor to a multi-functional, worldwide Electrification Solutions product group responsible for the definition, development, integration, and application of advanced technologies into prototype and production site energy transfer solutions.  This group is a critical element of the Caterpillar enterprise effort to support mining, quarry, and heavy construction customers on their sustainability journey, primarily through energy transition and electrification.

Job Duties:  

  • This position will be accountable for contributing to the concept, development, and design of complex components, subsystems, or processes.

  • This position performs complex analysis work, identifies design problems, and resolves problems. Although this position may be the transition from individual contributor to team leadership, the major focus of the job is on technical delivery. Incumbents may work more directly with different units, suppliers, customers, and/or other teams.

  • Evaluate new products or processes.

  • Perform product maintenance.

  • Responsible for design control of electrical energy transfer components and subsystems, this includes detailed design, analysis, validation planning, and support of lab and field testing.

  • Collaboration with suppliers to deliver cost, quality, and velocity.

  • Meeting serviceability and lifecycle requirements.

  • Understanding standards and regulations related to energy transfer and supporting compliance and certification of the product.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum or equivalent experience.

5 years of experience in electrical product design or development.

Top candidates will also have:

Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Understanding of mining and/or quarry industries, and electrification/energy transfer experience.

Excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments.

Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills.

Must have the ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the workgroup, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.

The location for this position is Tucson, AZ.

Domestic relocation assistance is available.

This position may require 10% travel.
